Join a wine of the month club

This is a curated list of wine of the month clubs. Our ratings system looks at quality-to-price ratio, shipping costs, uniqueness, and custom features. Wherever possible, prices include shipping costs, but rarely include sales tax. Be sure to select the state you're shipping to, as not all wine clubs can ship to all states.

Overview: This wine club features wines from Oregon and Washington — two U.S. award-winning wine regions. Using the same methods and ideas of wine selection as they've used for years in California, The California Wine Club has translated their vision to an Pacific Northwest region. Get an in-depth look at these Burgundian and Bordeaux-style regions with all of the perks of being a member of The California Wine Club.

What We Love: The California Wine Club has an excellent reputation and they've been in business a long time. We like that it's a family business supporting other family businesses.

Could Be Better: We have very little we feel The California Wine Club could do to improve. The prices sometimes feel a bit high, but when you factor in all of the benefits of membership, including a satisfaction guarantee, we still feel like you get what you pay for here.

Buying for yourself? Get your first shipment for $9.98 and a bonus bottle for 1 penny more!

Overview: From the original Wine of the Month Club (really, they're the first!) you get wine delivered every month at surprisingly low prices. The proprietor drives a hard bargain and passes those deals onto his customers. The Limited Series is their premium-level wine club and it's a nice choice when you're looking for "better" wines but still pinching your pennies. It also makes a really nice gift.

What We Love: We love that Paul streams his wine-tasting sessions live over the Internet so we can see what he's tasting and how much he's rejected.

Could Be Better: No recommendations for improvement here. This wine club sets the bar high as a standard for all other wine clubs.

Special Selections
by Uncorked Ventures
All-Around Rating:

Limited Time Offer
15% off all new wine club subscriptions and gifts. Use coupon code FIFTEEN at checkout.

Overview: Uncorked Ventures focuses on California, Oregon, and Washington wines and delivers high-quality selections from small-production wineries. This is their mid-level club featuring ultra-premium wines from the smallest productions. When you're ready to discover some of the best wine available from U.S. producers and don't want to decide for yourself which wines are worth the money before you buy, try this wine club.

What We Love: We're quite impressed with most of the past selections from Uncorked Ventures, especially as they include some of our favorite West Coast wine-growing regions.

Could Be Better: We'd love to see more content on their website to talk about their wine-selection process, some of the awesome stories from the road, and even their monthly newsletter.

Pinot Noir Series
by Gold Medal Wine Club
All-Around Rating:

Limited Time Offer
Buy more, save more! Save 5% on 12-month gifts. No coupon needed.

Overview: Pinot Noir is easy to love, and it's so food-friendly that keeping a good supply of it around is a smart idea. While there are a handful of Pinot of the month clubs out there, this one from the Gold Medal Wine Club is among the best, particularly for California wine lovers. Join this club to do a deep-dive into the world of Pinot Noir with high-quality, boutique-production wines.

What We Love: They seek out truly special Pinot Noir selections from California and around the world. Pinot Noir is a very fussy grape and we're happy to have them do the legwork for us.

Could Be Better: We don't have any suggestions for what to improve within the Pinot Noir Series wine club. Yay!

Diamond Series
by Gold Medal Wine Club
All-Around Rating:

Overview: A lot of wines (and wine clubs) call themselves "super premium," but most of them fail to live up to the hype. This quarterly wine club features true luxury wines rated 93+ and finds wines so exclusive that the club is limited to 500 members. This is collector-level access without the hassle of doing your own research.

What We Love: For a wine club that picks out such excellent wine, they don't need to be so customer-friendly on their extra features... but they are! We can't help but love their attention to detail.

Could Be Better: We don't have any suggestions for what to improve within the Diamond Series wine club. Yay!

Overview: Garagiste is a term which describes up-and-coming winemakers who toil away creating artisanal wines in their, well not usually, garages. If you're someone who wants to be up on the latest and greatest future stars of California winemaking, try the mostly red wine selection of Garagiste wines from the Gold Medal Wine Club.

What We Love: We look forward to discovering new wineries from all over California. We know we're getting very good wine at below-retail prices and helping small family businesses grow.

Could Be Better: Like other Gold Medal Wine Club series, we'd really like to see more information about the winemaking and viticulture in the educational materials.

Champagne Club
by Henri's Reserve
All-Around Rating:

Overview: We already go weak in the knees for a great champagne, but the shipment we received has us wishing the next shipment would get here sooner. A mouth-watering way to explore the region of Champagne, particularly from boutique grower houses that rarely export to the United States.

What We Love: A delightful and decadent way to treat yourself (or pamper a lucky gift recipient), Henri's Reserve is a playful yet sophisticated true Champagne Club, featuring top-notch small producers.

Could Be Better: It would be the best Champagne Club ever if they really stepped up the rewards of membership. We've been told they're working on it.

Platinum Series
by Gold Medal Wine Club
All-Around Rating:

Limited Time Offer
Buy more, save more! Buy 12 months and save 5%. Upgrade to 4 bottles to save another 5% on any number of shipments! No coupon needed.

Overview: If you're ready to move beyond mid-priced wines but not yet ready to make the leap to luxury, this wine of the month club is a great step to take. You'll get all of the benefits of being a member with The Gold Medal Wine Club, but you'll experience truly premium-quality wines that you won't find at the grocery store or most local wine shops either.

What We Love: For a wine club that picks out such excellent wine, they don't need to be so customer-friendly on their extra features... but they are! We can't help but love their attention to detail.

Could Be Better: We don't have any suggestions for what to improve within the Platinum Series wine club. Yay!

Buy more, save more! Save 5% on 4-shipment gifts. No coupon needed.

Overview: Whether you choose just the wine or you upgrade to include the regional gourmet treats with the Adventure Package, this quarterly wine club will take you on your own wine-drinking adventure around the world. Extensive regional and winery information goes out with each shipment, chock full of photos that help you feel like you're not really at home, but in a far away wine region.

What We Love: It's hard to compare a wine club that includes extra goodies to one that doesn't, because come on, most wine lovers love food, too! The fact that you can't get these wines from any other company in the U.S. doesn't hurt either.

Could Be Better: We don't have any suggestions for what to improve within the International Series wine club. Yay!

Overview: From the original Wine of the Month Club (really, they're the first!) you get wine delivered every month at surprisingly low prices. The proprietor drives a hard bargain and passes those deals onto his customers. The Vintner's Series is their mid-level wine club and is priced more like an entry-level club. It's a nice choice when you're looking for "better" wines but still pinching your pennies. It also makes a really nice gift.

What We Love: We love that Paul streams his wine-tasting sessions live over the Internet so we can see what he's tasting and how much he's rejected.
