A group of smart oenophiles set out to create the best way to order wine, from anywhere. We always love Lot18's super-sexy wine-porn photos and fun super-flash sales, and of course, the free credits that magically appear in our account after we've referred a friend who's made a purchase. If we had a formal bucket list of wines, we'd be slowly crossing them off that list thanks to Lot18 which gets us incredible wines at prices we can embrace... like the 2007 Calcareous Reserve Syrah we bought for just $25.99.
TastingRoom was an innovative company focused on delivering outstanding wine-tasting experiences, wherever wine could be shipped. The company created a technology (rare in the wine world!) to transfer tasting-sized portions into adorable little 2-oz bottles (without ruining the wine). These tasting treasures were then bundled into six-packs housed in beautiful, gift-worthy packaging, and shipped out to customers to approximate the experience of standing in a winery's tasting room and trying five or six different wines. While you didn't get the full romance of wine country, you didn't get snooty tasting room staff either.
Industry scoop: Lot18, the sexiest wine flash sale website, purchased most of TastingRoom Inc. in late 2012. The exciting combination of both companies is now ready for customers!
