Monthly wine clubs with delivery to SD. We assume they're not breaking any laws.
The shipping laws in the United States are complicated if you're trying to send a gift of wine. Wineries hate it as much as you do, but there are workarounds. If you live in a state where shipping is free-and-clear, yay for you! If you need to ship wine somewhere with stricter laws though, you need this page to help you shop. These wine of the months clubs will ship wine to South Dakota. Please send your legal inquiries to the companies directly.
We get free samples, but we don't work for wine—we get paid when you join a wine club through our site. Our opinions are always our own.
Overview: Highlighting California wineries making very small amounts of wine, this wine club sends you wine from the hardest-to-access, artisinal wineries.
What We Love: We look forward to discovering new wineries from all over California. We know we're getting very good wine at below-retail prices and helping small family businesses grow.
Could Be Better: Like other Gold Medal Wine Club series, we'd really like to see more information about the winemaking and viticulture in the educational materials.
Overview: Featuring hand-picked, adventurous selections from around the world. Great value and great drinking in every shipment.
What We Love: Industry-leading customer service, no ho-hum selections allowed, always over-delivers on value, and it's a great wine club for foodies.
Could Be Better: As this wine club continues to add more benefits like a satisfaction guarantee, discounts on reorders, partnerships to enhance their wine pairing, and more choices for customization, we only have praise for Plonk.
Overview: An incredibly popular wine club delivering the highest-quality wines among the two-bottle monthly wine clubs.
What We Love: Consistency. We've been receiving their shipments for years and we've never had a wine we didn't like. You can't really ask for more than that from a wine club.
Could Be Better: We don't have any suggestions for what to improve within the Gold Series wine club. Yay!
Overview: When considering a two-bottle a month wine club for yourself or someone else, this wine club ought to be near the top of your list.
What We Love: When it comes to places to find deals on wine, we often look to the California Wine Club. Not only do they start with great prices on their Premier Series wines, but they also have fantastic discounts after the shipments have gone out.
Could Be Better: We'd like to see them offer bigger shipments.
Overview: Exclusive wines from around the world and an Adventure Package of tasty treats and other goodies to take you on a worldwide journey without leaving your living room.
What We Love: It's hard to compare a wine club that includes extra goodies to one that doesn't, because come on, most wine lovers love food, too! The fact that you can't get these wines from any other company in the U.S. doesn't hurt either.
Could Be Better: We don't have any suggestions for what to improve within the International Series wine club. Yay!
Overview: A personalized wine program powered that gets to know your palate by starting your subscription with a tasting kit—real wine tasting in your living room. A significant step up from anonymous case clubs.
What We Love: Lot18 delivers on value, but at a higher level than other case clubs you might be considering. These selections are tailored to your preferences and they send exclusive wines you won't find anywhere else. Online account management is a big plus.
Could Be Better: We've had some complaints about quality. This is probably more a factor of their high-end marketing push which makes buyers think these are exceptional wines, when really, they're just good wines. We also receive complaints regarding their customer service being hard to reach and membership being difficult to cancel. This is reflected in the Customer Service rating we give them.
Overview: A terrific two-bottle, premium International wine of the month club. Consistent value and quality, with thorough tasting notes and delightful selections make this great as a gift for a wino or for yourself.
What We Love: A mixed tasting panel of consumers and professionals ensures a broad range of wine drinkers will enjoy their selections, and we are fond of all their many ways to customize your order.
Could Be Better: We think they're doing a great job. We might like to see a little more value in the wines, if we were being picky.
Overview: A premium-level California wine club featuring some of the finest wines produced in California.
What We Love: They reward volume purchasing! If you can afford it, by upgrading to the 4-bottle per shipment program you can save up to $13 per bottle.
Could Be Better: It seems like the price on this wine club is a little higher than it needs to be, so dropping it a bit and extending more of a discount to their premium subscribers would make us happy.
Overview: The most popular varietal for single-varietal wine clubs is probably Pinot Noir but none of the other wine clubs come with the precedent of quality set by Gold Medal Wine Club.
What We Love: They seek out truly special Pinot Noir selections from California and around the world. Pinot Noir is a very fussy grape and we're happy to have them do the legwork for us.
Could Be Better: We don't have any suggestions for what to improve within the Pinot Noir Series wine club. Yay!
Overview: The big brother wine club for the award-winning Gold Series, we think they're delivering a top-notch wine experience with this wine club, too.
What We Love: For a wine club that picks out such excellent wine, they don't need to be so customer-friendly on their extra features... but they are! We can't help but love their attention to detail.
Could Be Better: Especially at this level, we'd really like to see more information about the winemaking (not just the vineyards and the winemakers).
