The premium-level wine club from Vinesse where over the years we've seen the quality-to-price ratio go from incredible to disappointing and everywhere in between. If you want a wine of the month club that delivers better quality wines that you can't easily find, but want the protection of a rock-solid satisfaction guarantee, this is a good choice.
We like that you can decide how much of this wine club you want in your household's wine mix. You can choose 2, 4, 6, 8, or 12 bottles per shipment, though the delivery choices of 5, 7, or 14 times a year are kind of odd. Like most wine clubs, we advocate for joining with the highest number of bottles at an appropropriate frequency to save on shipping costs — a big savings with Vinesse.
We'd like to see a little less of the superlatives... "super-premium" wines don't carry a $35 price tag. Regardless, these are definitely premium wines worth their price.
Elevant Society Wine Club membership costs $75.00 for 2 bottles of wine. Shipping costs extra and is $18.00 per shipment plus sales tax where applicable. The price per bottle, with shipping, ranges from $40.75 to $46.50 depending on how you configure your membership.
Shipments are sent monthly, bimonthly, or quarterly.
With lofty goals of delivering pure bliss to your door, we think the Elevant Society wine club is falling short of that mark, but still delivering great value. With this club we’ve received premium Napa Valley Cabernets and prestigious Pinot Noir from the Sonoma County appellation Russian River Valley... as well as other great surprises like Epiphany Cellars Petit Sirah and Chronicle Old Vine Zinfandel (recently this winery was featured at the highly-acclaimed wine store, Lot18.com).
Unlike some wine clubs out there, you get a lot of perks for joining Elevant Society. In your first shipment you’ll get a great little Wine Exploration guide which includes how to identify flavors in your wine, wine and food pairing suggestions by varietal, and even how to host a wine tasting party in your own home.
With each shipment you’ll also get tasting notes and pairing suggestions for those wines AND a comment card which you can either mail back or go online to submit your ratings of the wines you’ve received. Vinesse (the company that runs Elevant Society uses this information to make even better buying decisions in the future.
Another great perk from Vinesse is incredible opportunities to buy more wine. In addition to being able to reorder wines from your wine club shipment (when they’re available), you’ll also be offered exclusive deep discounts on other wines. You can sample your way through International wines, the Pacific Northwest, Merlots from around the world, and many more choices. For an even deeper discount, you can enroll in their Grab Bag program where you’ll get a mystery case of wine. Sounds scary? It shouldn’t! The same great wines Elevant Society sends to its customers end up in these mystery cases when there’s extra inventory on hand.

At WineClubReviews.net we take an objective approach to our star ratings system. Our written reviews are very much subjective, based on our 10+ years of wine club review experience and our own ideas about what good wine and good value mean. The star ratings are based on 11 attributes that we feel define what a wine club should be. Here is how Firstleaf Wine Club stacks up on these traits.
