Invino Review

Invino is a wine “flash sale” site, like Lot18 and woot, except Invino came to market first and has, what we believe to be, a more compelling offer. We’ve sort of noticed that Lot18 gets big name wines to offer a 30-ish percent discount and then makes you buy 3-6 bottles so they recoup their costs. What we like about Invino, when compared with this, is that you can buy as much or as little as you want, and the discounts are frequently 50% and more.

We’ve ordered from Invino several times over the years (from Lot18, too) and find that the selections, even though the company is headquartered in Sonoma, definitely have an east-coast vibe—meaning there is a lot of French and Italian wine and the less expensive Cal wines often have a pronounced minerality or acidity. In our house we tend to lean toward big juicy fruit-bomb wines, at any price point, but access to pre-selected Euro wines is appreciated.

Invino inClub Overview

Invino has leveraged their impressive buying power (they achieved the holy grail in wine-buying—compressing the three-tier system of import, distribution, and retail) in to a one-of-a-kind wine club. The inClub (get it?) is unique for two big reasons: 1) It’s totally bespoke so everyone’s wine club experience is completely personalized and 2) They’re the only ones offering this type of service that we’ve heard of anywhere.

On top of the ability to have a totally custom wine shipment every month, they also have a palate profile quiz (kind of like the one at Club W) so that even if you let them pick your wine, you should be getting selections that suit your specific tastes.

To read more about the inClub, please check out the three selections presented below. We’ve broken the inClub down this way (even though they don’t) because we thought this would be the most accessible way to learn about it and because those of us who drink regularly often have classes of wine... the Everyday Drinkers, the Company-is-Coming or Night-on-the-Town premium wines, and splurge-worthy Special Occasion selections. The inClub has broken these down further and also added three different shipment budgets to the mix, so you an buy as much or as little as you need.
