Why This Gift
Wine Specator: "A well-cut and lacy Champagne in an elegant, aperitif style, with hints of chalk and graphite underscoring the lively Honeycrisp apple, cherry and lemon curd flavors. Offers a sleek, minerally finish. Drink now through 2021." Nov 2018 Bettane & Desseauve: "A round and fairly deep champagne, with a certain suppleness which gives it an almost universal character. Dosage is not noticeable." La Revue des Vins de France: "This wine has a structure and flavor that are better than the average brute from the mainstream wine trade. And yet it is also completely devoid of flabbiness as the "malls" are carried out on pinot grapes harvested on the crunchy side of ripeness." Winery: "The strength of this golden-yellow wine is immediately pleasing to the nose while its complexity explodes on the palate. The initial notes of fruit are followed by more discreet aromas of brioche and vanilla when the wine is allowed to age in the bottle. Brut Carte Jaune offers a perfect balance of finesse and forcefulness."

Why This Gift
Wine Spectator: "The minerally undertow imparts a subtle, smoky note that blends with flavors of dried pineapple, biscuit, salted
almond and white peach. A balanced version, with a fine bead and well-honed acidity. Drink now through 2018." Dec 2012
Winery: "An elegant colour: golden straw yellow with green highlights. A sparkling bouquet: the vibrant intensity of green
apple and citrus fruit, the freshness of mineral nuances and white flowers, and the elegance of blond notes (brioche, cereal, fresh nuts). A
generous palate combining sumptuousness and subtlety: the delicious sumptuousness of white-fleshed fruits (pear, peach, apple), the alluring caress
of fine bubbles, and the soft vivacity of citrus fruit with nuances of gooseberry.
Moet Imperial can be served throughout the meal, from aperitif to dessert and pairs perfectly with sushi, scallops, oysters, white fish, white meats (such
as roasted free range chicken au jus with fines herbes), and white fruits (such as a white peach tart served with a light, white chocolate cream)."

Why This Gift
Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cristal Rosé is showing brilliantly, unwinding in the glass with a beautiful bouquet of fresh peach, bergamot, strawberries, tangerine and blanched almonds that's still quite reserved. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and strikingly complete, its vinous attack segueing into a multidimensional core that exemplifies the ideal of power without weight, built around a racy but integrated spine of animating acidity and complemented by an exquisitely refined mousse. All the concentration of the 2012 vintage is on display, but it's rendered with terrific finesse. Decidedly youthful and introverted—indeed, I spent several hours with a bottle to compose this note—the 2012 will really come into its own with five or six years in the cellar and displays all the attributes necessary for considerable longevity. It's a blend of 56% Pinot Noir and 44% Chardonnay that saw no malolactic fermentation, and it was disgorged with eight grams per liter dosage. Drink date: 2025-2065." Mar 2020
Winery: "A precious, rare masterpiece, Cristal Rosé 2012 is a wine of slow construction, infused just like a great perfume. Tracing, in its own manner, the outline of a subtle setting, it reverberates with contrasts and flavours, judiciously intertwined in a powerful substance. It is the master of time, which reveals, at its own pace, the infinite harmony of flavours and textures that collide and invite each other to this eternal ballet.
Salmon pink hue with golden tints.
Consistent and incredibly delicate effervescence. The bouquet is poised and remarkably elegant. Its subtle, fleeting aromas are so delicately scented, intertwined and complex that they are difficult to describe. They invite you to take your time and lose yourself in this wine, which reveals itself at its own pace, like the master of time it is! The nose exudes delicate, zesty, fresh and precise notes of citrus peel, yuzu, forest fruit, mandarin, raspberry and wild strawberry which evolve towards roasted notes and almonds before giving way to fresh, herbal aromas of verbena and bergamot.
It reveals a lively palate invigorated by an incredibly elegant effervescence and beautifully light bubbles that soften the fruity structure and texture. The overwhelming sensation is one of serenity, the elegance of fresh fruit and the power of the zesty, chalky freshness. The finish is wonderfully long and enticing"

Why This Gift
Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Le Désir (53% Cabernet Franc, 21% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec) has
an inky purple color and a sweet kiss of chocolate, black truffle, forest floor, black raspberry and black currants. Opulent, but again structured and
super-dense and pure, this is another massively concentrated wine meant for the long haul (and for our grandchildren). Give it 4-6 years of cellaring and
drink it over the following 35-40 years. Remarkably, Pierre Seillan told me that 2014, while a drought year, was not actually that hot in the micro-terroirs
he was working, but in terms of quality, it turned out to be the most surprisingly positive vintage he’s ever witnessed. Drink date: 2020 -
2060.
This winery, one of the gems of the Kendall-Jackson portfolio of boutique wineries, debuted in 1998 and has been hitting on all cylinders since. I suspect
top priority is given to Bordelais winemaker Pierre Seillan’s choice of the finest fruit he can find from Jackson’s holdings in Alexander Valley, Chalk
Hill and Knights Valley. There are three Bordeaux-inspired cuvées made, with La Muse the Right Bank Pomerol style of wine dominated by Merlot, La Joie
a Médoc-like blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, and Le Desir a St.-Emilion-oriented wine dominated by Cabernet Franc. Percentages of these principal
grapes all change with the vintage, but those varieties are clearly the strength of each cuvée. Kudos once again to Pierre Seillan!" Oct 2016
Winery: "The wines of Vérité, French for “truth,” are the result of a combination of old world experience and new world fruit.
Each wine is a distinct blend of unique components harvested from small vineyard blocks, culminating in a meticulously formed union of grape varieties,
climate, soil expression, and winemaking technique. Vigneron Pierre Seillan refers to this methodology as droit du sol, “right of the soil.”
Marking the 50th year of Pierre Seillan’s cultivation of Cabernet Franc, the precision of this wine is matched only by its elegance. A bouquet of blackberries,
rose petals and herbs de provence unite in the iron-rich minerality that is the varietal’s birthright. Perfectly cultivated fruit -- harvested by micro-cru

Why This Gift
It's got a near-perfect score, is Napa royalty, and is one for the ages. Just saying.
Antonio Galloni's Vinous: "The 2018 Dominus has really shut down over the last year. I underestimated its imposing structure and density, both of which are on fully display today. The 2018 is a potent Dominus endowed with superb depth and tons of vertical explosive energy allied to a feeling of elegance that becomes increasingly apparent over time. Dark fruit, spice and a whole range of earthy, savory notes add layers of complexity. Superb" Jan 2022
Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Dominus slowly emerges from the glass with profound notes of blackcurrant cordial, ripe black plums, boysenberries and Black Forest cake with hints of violets, star anise, cracked black pepper, raspberry leaves and pencil lead, plus a touch of garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers impactful black fruit layers, creating a beguiling sense of richness that is beautifully countered by invigorating freshness and great poise, framed by super ripe, plush tannins and beautiful tension, finishing on a lingering fragrant earth note and, finally, lots of mineral sparks. For all that it is at the moment, one cannot help but feel that this 2018 is holding something back. Give it a good five years in bottle, at least, and then get set for what I suspect will be a mind-blowing transformation over the next 30 years+." Feb 2021
Jeb Dunnuck: "The flagship 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon checks in as 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot brought up in 40% new French oak. With an essence of Cabernet-like character in its darker currants, green tobacco, cedar, graphite, and floral aromas and flavors, this gorgeous wine is full-bodied and has bright yet integrated acidity, polished tannins, and a great, great finish. It’s just gorgeously put together and a magical, flawless wine. It's going to take a decade to hit maturity but will evolve for 40-50 years in cold cellars. It is as good as it gets in classic, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon!" Jan 2021
James Suckling: "This is incredible on the nose, offering hot stones, blackcurrants, iodine and wet earth. Full-bodied with a tight center palate, then it opens with a tannin structure that is weightless and spreads across the palate. Totally integrated on the palate. This is a magic-carpet wine. Really incredible. One of the reference points for the vintage. Drinkable now and please try a bottle, but it’s one for the cellar." Jan 2022 Winery: "Dominus 2017 is filled with incense, blonde tobacco, blue plum, and rose petal. Sculpted, refined and very well balanced, its finish is long and polished.
A very wet winter and spring, seasonal rainfall was twice the historical average. With soil water reserves full and warm temperatures in May and June, vines grew quickly amd luxuriantly. Several significant heat waves were recorded in June, July, August, and September with a record-breaking 112F on September 1st. Ripening was fast and homogenous. The severe heat wave before harvest induced significant crop loss. To maintain quality, fruit selection was critical and resulted in one of our smallest vintages to date."

Why This Gift
James Suckling: "This has a very expressive and intense feel with assertive, 100% new American oak, sitting in a bold, spicy layer with vanilla, bourbon and espresso notes, across the blueberries, blackcurrants and boysenberries. The palate has a very taut yet luscious delivery of rich plum and cranberry flavors. There’s such long and taut tannin and oak is driving this into tightly compressed shape with roasted-coffee tones to the very intense and long, ripe plums and black cherries. Powerful, commanding cabernet. This is a great Bin 707. Attractive now, but best to wait until 2025." Jul 2020
Winery: "Bin 707 is a perfect cabernet sauvignon representation of Penfolds ‘House Style’: intensely-flavored fruit; completion of fermentation and maturation in new oak; expressing a Penfolds understanding of multi-vineyard, multi-region fruit sourcing.
A solid cabernet core immediately apparent, with fruits to the fore (juicy blackcurrant) and a wrinkled, black olive concentration.
Texturally, the fine weave of a tapestry – a thread of rhubarb/cranberry natural acidity, wrapped around a mesh of slinky tannins."

Why This Gift
Dom Perignon's Brut Rose Champagne 2006 is a masterful creation. Not only is it wrought from a hot, dry year, it boasts an extra 20% of Pinot Noir in the mix, sourced exclusively from Hautvillers, Ay, and Bouzy. Chef de Caves Vincent Chaperon calls it a "veritable ode to Pinot Noir". We couldn't agree more; it's not to be missed. What have you got to celebrate??
Antonio Galloni's Vinous: "The 2006 Dom Pérignon Rosé is every bit as captivating as it was last year, maybe even more so. At times powerful, but in other moments finessed, the 2006 constantly changes in the glass, revealing a different shade of its personality with every taste. Perhaps most importantly, the 2006 seems to have gained a level of precision and pure sophistication it did not show last year, when it was quite a bit less put together. Back then, the 2006 was a wine of tremendous potential; today that potential is starting to be realized. Quite simply, the 2006 Dom Pérignon Rosé is a magical Champagne. Don’t miss it. Drinking window: 2020 - 2046." Jul 2019
Wine Spectator: "This graceful 2006 shows lovely freshness, featuring a pronounced note of pink grapefruit granita layered with finely detailed accents of toasted nut, lemon thyme, smoky mineral and crystallized honey. Plushly creamy in texture, with a steely streak of acidity, well-knit throughout, with a firm, lasting, spiced finish. Drink now through 2029." 2019
Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Dom Pérignon Rosé is showing well, offering up an expressive bouquet of bitter orange, red berries, apple and a delicate hint of dried flowers and herbs. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and broad, with a fine mousse, ripe acids and chalky phenolic structure, especially on the finish, which testifies to the fully 20% of still red wine that was included in the blend. This is a vinous, gastronomic rosé that numbers among the decided successes of the 2006 vintage. Drink date: 2018 - 2035." Mar 2019
Fine Champagne Magazine: Designated #1 of 100 best Champagnes for 2018. "Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2006 Tops '100 best Champagnes for 2018'. Stunningly concentrated and packed with succulent fruitiness, the wine already now shows a beautiful complexity of gunpowder, licorice and oriental spices complementing the plush yet firm pinot fruit.”
Winery: "Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2006, coming from the harvest of a warm and dry year marked by contrasts, is a paradox to the point of contradiction as it is the perfect balance of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Although it took over ten years to reach the light of day, Dom Pérignon Rosé dares to express all the tension between youth and maturity, between exhibition and restraint. This unique vintage will strike anyone’s palate with its intensity and succulence.
Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2006 mesmerizes with its ripe and complex bouquet, with opening notes of dark spices and cocoa, followed by the fruity flavours of roasted fig and apricots and candied orange. The fullness of this wine is striking on the palate. Its intensity and ripeness set the tone through the sweetness and bite of the flavours. The silky mouthfeel melts into a smooth, tight, and grainy structure with just a hint of vegetal flavours. This wine expresses an appealing saline character.
Rosé Vintage 2006 demands a simple cuisine, modest, pure, authentic, a traditional cuisine from southern Europe, originating from Italy, Spain or France. One can play on mellow and rich textures which the wine integrates perfectly. Rosé Vintage 2006 responds to propensities and contrasts, dishes with strong personalities reveal the form of exuberance which characterizes the vintage.

Why This Gift
Cristal conjures images of celebration and memorable occasions. Have you been waiting for a reason to make Chardonnay lobster with rhubarb or oysters with a Champagne zabaglione? Here it is! Because this showstopper of a Champagne is so spectacular with egg dishes, it is the perfect accompaniment to caviar brunch, or just a big glistening bowl of caviar. Fill your glasses and get your Ooh La La on winelovers!
Robert Parker, Jr.’s Wine Advocate: “I've revisited Roederer's 2013 Cristal four times since I reviewed it in April of this year—including several times from my own cellar—and I had to admit that even my lavish praise didn't do it full justice. Combining the cool-vintage cut of 2008 with the more completely mature fruit of 2012, the 2013 Cristal might well be said to represent the perfect combination of the two from a purist's perspective. The wine unwinds in the glass with notes of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, almond paste and citrus oil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, seamless and multidimensional palate that's intense but weightless, with racy acids, a pinpoint mousse and a long, penetrating finish. Drink the 2008 Cristal on its own, and you're unlikely—to put it mildly—to have any complaints; but compare it directly with the 2013 and you'll see Roederer's rapid progress in the vineyards writ large. Drink date: 2025-2060." Sep 2021
Wine Spectator: "Exotic hints of tangerine and candied ginger are an enticing entrance for this vivid Champagne, accenting a finely meshed range of ripe green apple and cassis fruit, with rich notes of chopped almond, brioche and lemon curd. An underscoring streak of salinity gains momentum through the mouthwatering finish, echoing as it rides the plushly creamy mousse. This is decadence in a sleek and graceful package. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2033." Aug 2020

Why This Gift
Rated 95pts by Decanter Magazine
Each bottle hand finished with French pewter labels, polished, and individually presented in a hand-crafted wooden gift box.
Decanter: "This is a three-way assemblage: three grape varieties – and equal percentage of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with 20% of Pinot Meunier – and a blend of 3 vintages, 2009, 2010 and 2012. The nose is full of flavours and rich with notes of white flowers and crème patissière. However, the palate is crisp, fresh and delicate with a lovely creamy texture. It is elegant, refined and very stylish (unlike the bottle!). It’s a pleasant combination of power and concentration blended with finesse and elegance. While the dosage is 9g/l, it feels much drier, more like a 5g/l and this probably due to the spinal cord of acidity." Jul 2017

Why This Gift
Wine Enthusiast: "The great 2012 vintage shows well in this rich, full Champagne. Dominated as usual by Pinot Noir, the wine is powerfully ripe and impressively full of white fruits and tight minerality. Ready to drink from 2022, it is worthy of aging and certainly drinkable even in 10 years time." Oct 2021James Suckling: "Intense aromas of strawberry and subtle apple with pie crust and some ash and stone. An almost smoky undertone to the aromas. Full-bodied and very layered with ultra fine tannins that give it a rough-cut, velvety texture. It’s very flavorful, yet so checked and reserved at the same time. Compact, tight palate that is deep and powerful. Very vinous at the end and in the mouth feel. Spicy and biscuity at the finish. Mostly pinot noir with chardonnay and only grand cru. More density and complexity than the 2008. Seven years on the lees. Delicious and luxurious to drink now, but giving this some age will make it even better." Aug 2021Wine Spectator: "Sleek, with racy acidity, this tightly-meshed version nonetheless offers a lovely range of flavors, with ripe black cherry and currant fruit and accents of pomegranate, candied kumquat and raw almond. Finely detailed, creamily swaths the palate in silk-like texture, carrying the expanding flavor profile through to a graphite- and spice-laced, lasting finish. Drink now through 2032." Jun 2021Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "Pol Roger's newly released 2012 Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill is showing brilliantly, bursting from the glass with youthful aromas of honeyed pears, toasted brioche, pomelo, fresh pastry, green apple and mandarin orange, with hints of stone fruit emerging with time in the glass. Full-bodied, vinous and textural, with an enveloping core of fleshy, concentrated fruit, bright acids and an elegant pinpoint mousse, it concludes with a long, penetrating finish. More muscular and vibrant than the generous and charming 2009, the 2012 ranks alongside the 2008 and 2002 as one of the three finest renditions of Sir Winston Churchill this millennium—and in style it resembles a hypothetical blend of those two vintages. Drink date: 2022-2045." Mar 2021
Winery: "Champagne Pol Roger created their Prestige Cuvée in homage to Sir Winston Churchill mindful of the qualities that he sought in his champagne : robustness, a full-bodied character and relative maturity. The exact blend is a closely guarded family secret but it is undeniable that the composition would meet with the approval of the man to whom it is dedicated : "My tastes are simple, I am easily satisfied with the best". Pinot Noir predominates, providing structure, breadth and robustness whilst Chardonnay contributes elegance, finesse and subtlety. Composed exclusively of grapes sourced from Grands Crus Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards which were already under vine during Churchill's lifetime. Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill is only made in the very best vintages and is always released later than the other vintage dated Champagnes from Pol Roger, marking Churchill's appreciation for older wines. The wine has an inviting, bright golden hue, and a fine, regular stream of bubbles. At first the refined nose exudes subtle hints of brioche and sweet spice combining with citrus flavours and floral fragrances. As the wine warms in the glass, it becomes more powerful and the nose develops complex nuances of toasted nuts, acacia blossom and honeycomb. The palate is round and creamy supported by notes of fresh fruit. The structure is opulent, underpinned by fabulous balance. The finish is long and powerful."

James Suckling: "Wonderful blackberry and blackcurrant aromas here with hints of mint and fresh sage. Some cassis. Wrought iron, too. Full-bodied, tight and elegant with lovely tension. Beautiful. Ends fine and focused. Drinkable now, but better after 2022." Feb 2020Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "A blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, 9% Petit Verdot and 9% Merlot, the deep garnet-purple 2017 Proprietary Red soars out of the glass with notions of baked blueberries, plum preserves and blackcurrant cordial, backed up by nuances of chocolate mint, wild sage, violets and pencil shavings, plus an earthy hint of Chinese five spice. The rich, seductive, full-bodied palate is jam-packed with spicy black fruit preserves, framed by wonderfully plush tannins and a lively backbone, finishing long and opulent. Drink date: 2022-2047." Aug 2020
Antonio Galloni's Vinous: "The 2017 Proprietary Red Wine Sage Mountain Vineyard comes across as remarkably primary. Bright red-toned fruit and floral notes give the 2017 striking freshness as well as nuance. Deep and layered on the palate, with superb depth, the 2017 Continuum is easily one of the wines of the year. Even in the early going, it is truly magnificent. Drinking window: 2022-2037." Jan 2020 Winery: "2017 was a vintage of extremes, with abundant rain in the winter and record-breaking heat waves during the growing season. A testament in resiliency, the 2017 Continuum shows freshness, hinting at rose petal on the nose with cacao, black cherry and plum giving way to a plush, silky mid palate. Fine tannins of crushed stone and subtle undertones of tapenade are present through a beautifully persistent finish."

James Suckling: "A firm and vivid Champagne with a precise, focused palate. Full-bodied and dry. It’s very layered and bright with light pineapple, peach, praline, cooked-apple and stone aromas and flavors. It’s very subtle and focused at the end. Integrated with richness and high acidity. Good depth. Reminds me of the 1995. Very clean. Solid. Lovely to drink already, but will age nicely." Jul 2020
Winery: "Dom Pérignon only creates vintage wines; it is an absolute commitment. Only the best grapes from the most exceptional years are used, making each vintage distinct. On the nose: The luminous sweetness of tropical fruit – green mango, melon, pineapple – instantly shines. It then cedes to more temperate notes, the tingle of orange zest, the mist of a mandarin orange. The wine breathes, revealing its freshness. The bloom after the rain. A tactile sensation of peony, jasmine and lilac. On the palate: The wine immediately imposes its ample presence, full and massive. A sappy sensation dominates as the tactile is rapidly overtaken by the aromatic. The body unfolds: generous, firm and controlled. Then it contracts, letting the wine vibrate with spices and pepper. The energy is sustained to a scintillating, saline finish."

Why This Gift
Winery: "Over 20 years are needed to craft each bottle of Krug Grande Cuvee, created beyond the very notion of vintage to offer the most generous Champagne in the world with exceptional finesse. As you taste it, notes of hazelnut, toasted bread, nougat, barley sugar, and jellied fruits may take you by surprise. You may even taste hints of apples still on the tree, flowers in bloom, ripe and dried fruit, almonds, marzipan, gingerbread, sweet spices and even brioche and honey. You may also notice its exceptional freshness in the mouth, with rich and tangy flavors of lemon and grapefruit enhanced by the subtlety of its fine and elegant bubbles. Krug Grande Cuvee can age beautifully. Krug Grande Cuvees fullness is such that everyone can find something in it to stir their emotions. Its generosity also means that it lends itself to to a plethora of culinary combinations, from the simplest to the most sophisticated, from an extra mature Parmesan to a dish of turbot a la truffe."

Why This Gift
Wine Enthusiast: "The iconic Belle Epoque bottle reveals a well-structured, taut wine. With Chardonnay very much in evidence in the mineral texture, the wine is almost as floral as the bottle. Drink from 2021.. Dec 2019Wine Spectator: "Smoky notes of toasted brioche play off of minerally accents of oyster shell and wet chalk on the nose and palate of this rich rosé Champagne. Meshed with a spine of lively acidity and a juicy profile of nectarine, raspberry and Mandarin orange fruit flavors, this is long and creamy on the well-spiced finish. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Drink now through 2032." Nov 2021James Suckling: "A very complex and toasty nose with nicely cut, autolytic, reductive kick that adds flinty notes to the lemons and pink grapefruit, as well as fresh, lightly spiced pastry. The palate has a super fluid and attractively fresh feel with a bold, sweetly fruited core that delivers a long, succulent and elegant finish. This is in form! Drink or hold." Sep 2019
Winery: "While preserving the House style, Hervé Deschamps blended out the freshness and elegance of the Chardonnays (50%) from the grand crus of Cramant and Avize. From the Montagne de Reims, the Pinot Noir (45%) display a generosity and delicate complexity that prolong the Chardonnays’ finesse. Finally, the rounded charm of the Pinot Meunier (5%) from Dizy provides the finishing touch to this beautifully balanced cuvée."

Why This Gift
Wine Spectator: "Pale copper in color, this richly expressive rosé shows an overall sense of finesse, but also well-defined tension between the vibrant acidity and finely detailed mousse that carries flavors of dried white cherry and apricot, Mandarin orange peel, espresso and honey, with an expansive finish of exotic clove and cardamom spice. Disgorged winter 2013. Drink now through 2021." Oct 2016 Winery: "Krug Rosé is both unexpected and daring. It shows a broad and extensive aromatic palette, unusual for a Rosé Champagne. As you taste Krug Rosé, you will discover harmonies of puff pastry and red-berry tart, which develop towards honey and citrus fruits. Its floral accents and notes of dried or stewed fruit will enthral your palate. Its extreme delicacy is enhanced by the subtlety of its fine and elegant bubbles. Krug Rosé was created in a bid to move away from excesses in aroma. The result is a Champagne Rosé defined by its distinction and finesse. Krug Rosé is decidedly the most non-conformist of Krug Champagnes. It is an unexpected delight, surprising at every sip with its texture, colour and taste. The most sensual and daring of the Krug Champagne, Krug Rosé is the only prestige Cuvée Rosé to be blended from a rich palette of wines from three different grape varieties, and from several vintages. At least five years in the cellar gives Krug Rosé its subtle bubbles and long-lasting elegance."

Why This Gift
Mr. Suckling sums it all up very nicely. The La Spinetta Barolo Campè is worth the wait, allowing time to plan your meal and celebration. We highly recommend waiting a few more years before you partake. When you do, the already ephemoral tannins will be even more subtle, and the stunning fruit more beautiful still. Decant your bottles at least one hour before drinking to maximize your Wow. Your first glasses will be augmented by a platter of beef bresaola drizzled with a good quality EVOO, sprinkled with sea salt. Try winemaker Giorgio Rivetti's recipe for a traditional Piemontese dish, Barolo braised vealxxx. A hearty, steaming pot of porcini mushroom risotto is another delicious pairing for this Campè. Or, a personal favorite, falling-apart tender osso buco. We have two things to say: get enough of this Piemontese perfection, and Cin Cin! James Suckling: "This is really something, with superb concentration of fruit and tannins. It’s powerful yet harmonious with a muscular sense and agile feel. Blackberries and strawberries with bark and wet-earth undertones. Goes on for a long time on the palate. Give it three to five years of bottle age to come around. Best after 2024." Jul 2021Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "The La Spinetta 2017 Barolo Campè Vürsù sources its fruit from the Garretti vineyard in Grinzane Cavour. The wine shows depth, vertical intensity and quite an impressive range of aromas that span redcurrant and berry to hazelnut paste and earthy truffle. Despite the shiny ruby appearance of the wine, this is a full-bodied Barolo with plenty of power and true grit, or what the Italians call "grinta." Give those nervous tannins time and patience. Drink date: 2024-2040." Jul 2021 Winery: "In the spring of 2000, the Rivetti family acquired the 8ha Campè Vineyard. The story of this vineyard is quite interesting, and if vines could speak, they would tell you how thankful they are that the Rivetti’s purchased the vineyard. The family took over this south-facing hillside from a producer who never had intentions of making a great wine. In fact, all of the grapes were being sold in bulk to other Barolo producers, and the yields were at the high end of the allowable range for the region. Through a rigorous green harvest, La Spinetta reduced the previous production by 75%, leaving just 25% of the fruit on the vine. The usage of chemicals in the vineyard was prohibited and instead fertilization was carried out utilizing horse manure and extensive manual work throughout the year. Today, the vineyard is full of healthy, strong vines that are over 50 years old and produce exceptionally low yields of extremely high-quality fruit. Campè is a true Cinderella story in Barolo! The genius of La Spinetta encompasses a vast array of great wines, all boasting an inimitably approachable and voluptuous style. From Moscato to Nebbiolo to Sangiovese, whatever Giorgio touches turns to gold. His Barbareschi and Baroli are at the very top of their category. In fact La Spinetta’s wines are among Italy’s most celebrated, as the winery has attained the coveted Tre Bicchieri award for more than 30 of their wines throughout their relatively short career.

Wine Spectator: "The minerally undertow imparts a subtle, smoky note that blends with flavors of dried pineapple, biscuit, salted almond and white peach. A balanced version, with a fine bead and well-honed acidity." Dec 2012 Winery: "An elegant colour: golden straw yellow with green highlights. A sparkling bouquet: the vibrant intensity of green apple and citrus fruit, the freshness of mineral nuances and white flowers, and the elegance of blond notes (brioche, cereal, fresh nuts). A generous palate combining sumptuousness and subtlety: the delicious sumptuousness of white-fleshed fruits (pear, peach, apple), the alluring caress of fine bubbles, and the soft vivacity of citrus fruit with nuances of gooseberry. Moet Imperial can be served throughout the meal, from aperitif to dessert and pairs perfectly with sushi, scallops, oysters, white fish, white meats (such as roasted free range chicken au jus with fines herbes), and white fruits (such as a white peach tart served with a light, white chocolate cream).

Why This Gift
Robert Parker, Jr's Wine Advocate: "A blend of the 2007, 2006 and 2004 vintages that was disgorged some six months ago, the NV Brut Grand Siècle #24 will be released this April, and it's beginning to drink well, offering up a complex and already maturing bouquet of dried flowers, mandarin orange, iodine, gingerbread, clear honey and smoke. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and vibrant, with an ample core of fruit complemented by abundant sapid nuances, bright acids and a fine but youthfully frothy mousse. This is an expressive rendition of Grand Siècle that will drink well on release." Apr 2019
Winery: "Brilliant in character with a fine sparkle. An intense and complex nose of slightly candied fruits, followed by aromas of fresh pastry, grilled almonds, subtle hints of honey and gingerbread. Well-rounded and developed, the wine brings a feeling of fullness while its beautiful minerality leaves an outstanding sensation of freshness. Grand Siècle offers a perfect balance between strength and delicacy.
Grand Siècle pairs with high-quality produce and refined dishes, particularly “surf & turf” combinations, seafood and noble fish."

Why This Gift
There is nothing ordinary about this Graham's 2016 Vintage Port. It will age for decades, and has a myriad of delectable flavors which you could happily
catalogue for days. How do you feel about chocolate? Fruit tarts? Gorgonzola Dolce? Cigars? They all work well with this spectacular nectar. You really
don't need much. Just you, a glass (make sure it's big enough), and a chair. Preferably with a view. And if you're feeling generous, somebody you like. Aproveite.
James Suckling: "Extremely complex aromas that show the classic Graham character of black-fruit marmalade and burnt oranges. Follows through
to a full body with great grip at the finish. Lightly sweet. Chewy and powerful. Such a focus at the end." May 2018
Decanter: "Super-ripe with an expressive plum and dark chocolate aroma. Rich opulence backed by dark chocolate intensity and spicy tannic
grip – big and bold on the finish. Voluptuous with fabulous richness, big and bold on the finish. This is one for the long haul but it’s already very impressive.
Production of 6,325 cases. Drinking Window 2030 - 2055." May 2018
Wine Enthusiast: Designated Cellar Selection. "This finely structured wine is powered by fine tannins and rich fruits. A touch
of acidity comes through the rich berry flavors and the concentration of the dark tannins. This wine will certainly age, don't drink before 2028." Dec
2018 (Advance)
Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Vintage Port is a blend of 37% Touriga
Nacional, 42% Touriga Franca and various others. It comes in with 115 grams of residual sugar. A bit bigger than Dow's this year, this is more intense
as well. The better wine of these two benchmarks seems to be this Graham's. Tight on the finish, aromatic and very flavorful, this actually opens rather
well and shows off its lovely fruit. The Dow's will be approachable a bit earlier, perhaps, and this may reward aging even more. As always, Graham's is
wonderfully delicious. That's one hallmark of the house. I'm not sure this is a truly great Graham's, but at the moment, it is enticing, with plenty of
potential for improvement. There were 6,325 cases produced, plus some bottles in other formats. Drink 2025-2070.
Charles Symington said that 2016 started off very rainy, followed by a hot and dry summer, but with moderate temperatures. It was fairly apparent it would
be a later vintage. In mid-August, some rain helped the maturation. At the beginning of September, there was a wave of hot weather. He said that was a
crucial moment when he thought of starting harvest, even though it was not quite perfect, but they waited. Victory goes to the bold. Rain in the second
week of September caused them to hold back another week, beginning harvest around 22 September. It was a very late harvest, creating a certain element
of risk. Touriga Franca, he said, is particularly susceptible to rain. But there was no rain for the next 30 days, making harvest easy. Charles said that
the "blue skies and mild temperatures from the 13th September to the 10th October allowed for the Nacional to be picked in late September and the Franca
in early October in perfect conditions with fantastic balance. The freshness coming through in these wines being a defining feature of this vintage."
As we debate the trends in Ports (see, last year's article on the 2015s, "Undeclared and Unashamed"), it's worth noting that my favorites of the Symington
group are easily the single-plot Ports—The Stone Terraces and Capela, both are wine-of-the-vintage candidates. Dow's and Graham's did well, but I
think the single-plot wines overshadow them rather easily." Jul 2018
"Graham's...the most consistent producer of great Port in the post World War II era... their Vintage Ports are truly sublime and sumptuous." Robert Parker,
Jr., 1986
Winery: "Classic expression of the Graham’s style: concentrated and opulent with layers of fresh, ripe, black fruit flavours. Aromas
of mint and eucalyptus with chocolate notes. The Graham 2016 combines superb complexity, structure and balance.
Graham's 2016 Vintage Port pairs wonderfully with chocolate desserts, such as chocolate mousse, creamy blue cheeses like Stilton or Roquefort.
Port is best served in classic Port wine glassware or white wine glasses. Avoid cordial or liqueur glasses as they are too small to fully appreciate the
wine's aromas."

Why This Gift
Embrace the joy of cold weather cooking with this Rodney Strong Symmetry Meritage, and not just a little, but a magnum's worth! Pot roast cooked for hours will go beautifully with the heady fruit and body of this California red. What are your other favorite roast or basted meat dishes? Likely they'll be good pairings too. Pan-seared rib lamb chops with a drizzle of pesto across the top couldn't hurt either...
Winery: "The 2015 Symmetry has luxurious aromas of red fruit, plum, vanilla, dusty oak and dried fruit which unfold on the palate with silky layers of dark fruits, baking spices, and a supple, rich mouthfeel. This wine is harmonious and elegant with refined tannins and a long, lingering finish. Enjoy this wine now with beef stew, grilled pork tenderloin or an assortment of roasted vegetables, or cellar for enjoyment for years to come."
The 2015 Vintage: "The 2015 vintage was warm overall, but cooler than the previous few years. Budbreak was very early, weeks ahead of average. Yields were very low—in some blocks half of what we’d normally harvest. The low yields led to sugars accumulating much faster in the clusters than the speed at which ripening was occurring. Cool and hot weather alternated the rest of the summer. The acidity and tannins in the berries remained firm as we were looking at the possibility of a record early harvest date, so we chose to let the sugars go, waited for the acids to lower and for the tannins to soften. Satisfied with the flavors, and with all things in balance, we picked blocks from five different vineyards in Alexander Valley, plus our Estate Cooley Ranch out in the wild hills north of Lake Sonoma, all the way through September, as the fruit from each block tasted best."

Why This Gift
Robert Parker Jr's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet in color, the 2012 Pontet-Canet gives up a profound earthy/savory nose, revealing notes of tilled soil, woodsmoke, mossy tree bark, fungi and bouquet garni with a core of raspberry preserves, boysenberries and dried cherries plus a hint of warm cassis. Medium-bodied, it has a firm grainy texture and a softly spoken, savory character in the mouth, finishing with lingering oolong tea and dried herbs notes." May 2020
"This impeccably run, biodynamically farmed estate of Alfred Tesseron goes from strength to strength. The 2012 triumphs once again with its notes of dark plum, blackcurrant, licorice and almost a hint of truffle, its full-bodied, supple tannins, and beautiful, expensive mouthfeel. Complex and deep, this dense ruby/purple-colored wine may not be at the level of the 2009 or 2010, but it is a successful wine in this vintage, and a significant wine in 2012. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2035." Apr 2015
"A softer, less powerful and less prodigiously endowed Pontet Canet, the 2012 exhibits notes of creme de cassis and new barrique vanillin followed by a medium-bodied, elegant wine with sweeter tannin (and less of it) than is found in the great vintages that immediately precede it. The 2012 is certainly outstanding and, in fact, many readers may prefer it to the blockbuster, out-of-this-world, over-sized 2010, 2009 and 2008. Medium-bodied, pure and expressive, this classic Pauillac should only require 5-6 years of cellaring. It should drink well for two decades thereafter. No one will confuse the 2012 Pontet Canet with the 2008, 2009 or 2010, but proprietor Alfred Tesseron has turned in another high level performance in this more challenging vintage (especially true in the Medoc)." Apr 2013
Wine Spectator: "Broad and fleshy, with an alluring feel to the layers of steeped plum, blackberry coulis and raspberry reduction notes, all gliding over ample but polished tannins. Loam, tobacco and warm stone accents stay in the background for now but add steady base notes to the finish. Packs in solid fruit for the vintage, with a commensurate tug of earth. Best from 2017 through 2025." Sept 2015
Antonio Galloni's Vinous: "(65% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, 4% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot): Deep purple-ruby. Perfumed nose of violet and ripe blackberry jam. Smooth, rich and almost sweet on entry, then increasingly austere, with the sweet cassis and delicate herbal flavors overshadowed by rising, raw tannins. I detected a slightly green quality on the long finish. Though this wine lacks the amazingly sweet flesh of the '09 and '10 wines, and the classic elegance of the '08, I like its precision. Alfred Tesseron told me the estate picked late, on October 4, to offer the grapes a greater chance of reaching suitable ripeness, but they harvested quickly, using an extra sorting table." May 2013
Jeb Dunnuck: "Fresh and lively aromatically, with spring flowers, sappy herbs, licorice, currant bud and earth, the 2012 is medium to full-bodied, tight, closed and focused, with fine, grippy tannin and a rock-solid finish. It lacks a touch of density and exuberance, but is an elegant, lengthy 2012 that needs 3-4 years of cellaring and will keep through 2032."
James Suckling: "This shows incredible decadence and opulence for the vintage with dried meat, black berry, blueberries and hints of mushroom. Full body, very polished silky tannins and a chewy finish. Lots of richness for the vintage. Persistent palate. This was aged 35% in cement eggs for 12 months. Better in 2018." Feb 2015
"A wine that makes you want to drink it already. It's stylish with berries, currants, cedar and stone aromas and flavors. Full body, with very integrated tannins and a long, long finish. A small percentage of the wine is now aged in cement vats instead of oak barrels. This touches all the senses. A beauty. Made from biodynamic grapes." Nov 2013

Wine Enthusiast: "This tastes jammy and very fruity, with tannins that are totally enveloped by the rich texture. Plummy and comfortable, it's all about ripe berries and currants. Smoky flavors come from the wood aging, and contrast with the Port-like lusciousness of the wine." May 2015

Why This Gift
One of the earliest wineries in PIedmont to bottle Barolo, the Oddero winery's reputation precedes them. Their Riserva Bussia Mondoca Barolo ages for five years before making its debut, and it's well worth the wait. Rich, ripe, dark fruit combines with a beautiful example of the Piedmontese terroir. Carne cruda (beef tartar) the Piedmontese way is a terrific partner for your first glass. Follow that with an earthy porcini risotto and you won't be disappointed. Roast goose with a prune stuffing, or other wild game birds will marry perfectly with the rustic side of this wine, as will a last course of Italian Grana Padana cheese. Cincin winelovers! Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "This is an instant classic, and that may be because of the smart decision to harvest later than usual. The 2013 Barolo Riserva Bussia Vigna Mondoca is elegant and profound with lots of beauty at every stage of its depths. The Vigna Mondoca is located more or less in the middle of the expansive Bussia cru, which has very thin and light soils that ultimately aid in the quick ripening of the fruit. Historically, this has resulted in super fruit intensity and delicious black fruit flavors. In this edition, we also get more tilled earth and stunning mineral tones. Drink 2020-2045. This is a beautiful Barolo Riserva." Jun 2019 Winery: "Mellow and elegant bouquet with scents of berries and natural balsamic notes, Mediterranean woodlands and dried rose reminiscent of goudron with ageing. Well-balanced on the palate with elegant and assertive tannic texture, long and complex finish."

Why This Gift
Yet another spectacular Cabernet from Silver Oak, it will have you at hello with its velvety, smooth full body, raspberry notes, sultry spice and distinctly earthy character. Enjoy your first luscious glass with mint pasta parcels filled with spicy lamb sausage. You can thank us later... An easier starter to go with your first few sips are tiny beef sliders with caramelized onions. The solid nature of this Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet warrants meaty fare such as lamb, beef and game. Rabbit cooked with peas, pancetta and carrots will pair beautifully with this garnet Cab. Crisp-roasted duck with broccoli rabe, roasted potatoes and skinny French haricots will show off this Silver Oak's lovely earthiness. Slightly more conventional, we love the lasting tannins of this Alexander Valley nectar with grilled beef sirloin and arugala salad dressed with a mushroom vinaigrette. You won't want this meal to come to a close, so we say bring out the dark chocolate, hazelnut cake and make sure everyone gets a scoop of dense hazelnut gelato on their portion. For those of you who prefer savory endings, open another bottle to go with a potent Gorgonzola. Buckle up winelovers, you are going to love this ride! Winery: "Our 2016 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is ruby in color with a magenta rim. It has an enticing nose of cassis, blackberry, vanilla, sage and spearmint. Upon entry, this wine builds from potpourri and bramble to a bright pop of raspberry on the mid-palate. A juicy finish with chewy tannins and a medium length, it will provide drinking pleasure through 2042 with proper cellaring."

Why This Gift
Pay attention winelovers, it's not often that you have an opportunity to partake of a sensational, beautifully proportioned, creamy wine such as this O'Shaughnessy Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. Enough talking. Open your first bottle and stand back as the stupendous flavors make their entrance. A fitting partner for your first taste is a terrine of short rib meat slow-cooked with smoked paprika and garlic, served with tangy caper berries and thinly sliced crusty bread. That ought to be an appropriate introduction to the magnificent density and forest floor in this Napa Cabernet. Moving on, the myriad of black fruit, creme de cassis, minerals, full body and world class weight and finish require serious meaty fare such as lamb, beef, game and steak. We hope you're hungry. If you're thinking ahead to the holidays, we can't conceive of a better wine for a show stopping standing rib roast with spinach-porcini stuffing and two mushroom sauce. Offer it with full glasses, a golden potato gratin and French beans with caramelized shallots on the side and watch as sheer delight commandeers the room. Bring out the fruit in this O'Shaughnessy with medallions of venison with port and cranberries. If a little less labor is your choice, we highly recommend an easy Provencal leg of lamb. Roast it with tomatoes, onions, rosemary, thyme and mustard and a little drizzle of honey while you have another glass of this Howell Mountain red. Offer the lamb with a creamy gorgonzola polenta and your guests might never leave. Bring on even more happy with a mile-high dark chocolate cake with espresso fudge buttercream, and of course, another bottle. Just one more thing: have the smelling salts on hand; there could be swooning...
James Suckling: "Blue flowers and fruit on the nose, as well as licorice, tea leaf and dark chocolate. It’s medium-bodied with firm, tight tannins and fresh acidity. A distinct, saline streak cuts through the dark fruit. Try from 2023." Jan 2021

Why This Gift
From the renowned and highly accomplished Brunier family, who've been at it for over 100 years, from what many believe to be the grandest cru of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, we have the Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe La Crau Chateauneuf-du-Pape. It's a slam dunk for the special dinner... Decant an hour before enjoying, and savor your first glasses with Marcona almonds. No fuss, just enjoy the beautiful minerality, floral and spice notes, and the structure that binds them all together so perfectly. Our first choice with this iconic red? Well-marbled, bone in rib-eyes, flame-grilled to medium rare, with your favorite sides. A lamb stew which has cooked for hours, with cippoline onions and big chunks of carrots and potatoes will do nicely too. Or, a hearty portabello risotto if you're in the mood for meat free. Wrap it all up with another bottle and a French Reblochon cheese. You'll be glad you did. James Suckling: "Immediately a sense of darker fruit in this vintage. Some stony, chalky elements, as well as dried violets and roses. Very compelling, fleshy palate with powerful black fruit and plums and thick, but smooth tannins that will carry it in the cellar. Barrel sample." Aug 2018 Trade Notes: "One cannot think of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the most celebrated cru of the Southern Rhône, without thinking of Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe. The Brunier family is legendary in its own right, having been rooted to the enigmatic plateau known as “La Crau” for over one hundred years. The wines of Vieux Télégraphe evoke the concept of terroir in its purest form: they reflect their dramatic climate, the rough terrain that defines the soil, their full sun exposure at a higher altitude, the typicity of the varietals with an emphasis on Grenache, and of course, the influence of their caretakers, the Brunier family. For many, La Crau is Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s grandest cru. The AOC for Chateauneuf-du-Pape is in the Rhone Valley stretching from Orange to Avignon. Domaine Vieux Telegraphe was founded in 1895, and takes it name Vieux Telegraphe (Old Telegraph) from a rocky plateau of the Domaine where in 1792 M. Chappe, the inventor of the optical telegraph, installed a relay tower."

Why This Gift
The glass is ideal for every style of wine. Form follows function: The broader base of the bowl of the glass — a precise 95 millimeters — and the conical shape at the top of the glass— allows for the “nose” of a wine, its top, middle and a base notes to emerge in the glass. The glass acts as a gentle decanter. The shape is designed for the maximum enjoyment of every varietal and style of wine served in the glass.
The Gabriel-Glas is strong by design. Each glass is either molded as one piece, seamless with no stress points (e.g. at the base of the bowl, or base of the stem like many other glasses). Gabriel-Glas, of Austria, is lead-free crystal and perfectly safe in your dishwasher.Your nose actually fits in the glass and makes drinking the wine much easier, because you do not have to lift your entire head backwards in order to let the wine flow onto the palate. The shape of our glass to allow for the wine to flow freely onto your palate with a focused, rather than defused, distribution of wine normally created by bulbous-style wine glasses. This provides for perfect extraction of the wine, balanced between the acidity and its sweetness. Because of the broader base and narrow opening of the glass, the wine flow is more broadly distributed.

Why This Gift
Champagne - decadent elegance in a bottle. And then there's Rose Champagne, more rare. Take it one step further and make it a vintage Rose Champagne, and you're just that much more fabulous with the Louis Roederer Brut Champagne Rose. Rose Champagne goes with everything except red meat. Like turkey, and all of the delicious sides that accompany it. Know what we say here at Wired For Wine? You can never have enough bubbles.
Winery: "A characteristic Roederer rosé: the concentration, fruitiness, and compactness of the Cumières Pinot noir grapes are transcended by the elegance, purity, and freshness of the finest Chardonnay grapes cultivated on the Côte des Blancs. In order for grapes to be used in the creation of a great rosé champagne, they have to attain perfect maturity, which is sometimes difficult to achieve in the changeable Champagne climate. This is why Louis Roederer decided to invest in the vineyards at Cumières, where the shallow calcareous clay soil, which is on south-facing slopes bathed in the light reflected from the banks of the river Marne, enables the grapes to attain optimum phenolic maturity. In order for grapes to be used in the creation of a great rosé champagne, they have to attain perfect maturity, which is sometimes difficult to achieve in the changeable Champagne climate. The wine has fruity aromas of wild red berries, followed by floral notes, and the sugary and spicy fragrance of zest; and the aromas of dried fruit and cocoa result from the wine’s vinifying in oak tuns. Rich and full-bodied, the Rosé Vintage exalts the maturity of the fruit. A sparkling wine with an initial impression of freshness, it opens smoothly with almost exotic notes, combined with the pure minerality of the Chardonnay grapes."

Why This Gift
Vesuvio is the last of the old school of vintage Ports: made in the original 1826 winery, in the original granite lagares, stomped by foot, etc... The real deal. Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Vintage Port is a blend of 33% Touriga Nacional, 35% Touriga Franca, 15% Sousão and 12% Alicante Bouschet, plus miscellaneous others filling out the blend. This was bottled about a month before tasting after 18 months in seasoned vats, but the just-bottled sample was not really ready. This was instead a pre-bottling sample. It comes in with 115 grams of residual sugar.Very fresh, it also has luscious fruit, vivid fruit flavor and big power underneath. It coats the palate and is one of the fleshiest of the wines in the Symington stable this issue, but its best feature is the delightfully juicy finish. It's delicious, long and kind of spectacular. Tight, it also demonstrated the ability to expand in the glass. Then, it showed off the pure power. The combination of lots of fruit, lots of power and endless flavor to go with the endless finish mean that this is a rather stunning follow-up to recent vintages. It is going to need some time. I did (again) like the Capela, its sibling this issue, better—I tend to lean toward structure more than fruitiness—but at half the price, I and other bargain hunters might be content here. Stylistically, this certainly has plenty of virtues of its own, and it will likely be accessible a bit earlier. Drink date: 20130-2075." Jul 2019

Why This Gift
Make somebody's day with this Cune Gran Reserva Rioja Decanter Gift Pack. It's the perfect pandemic present. Two bottles of Rioja that are packed with dark fruit, some spice, a hint of smokiness, and a delectable smoothness plus a decanter to hold their contents! It comes beautifully packaged in a handy box with a rope handle, and is ready for travel and your favorite fall fare. We're thinking grilled lamb cutlets with a fava bean puree, a paella of duck, chorizo and chicken, or if you're into combining cultures, a classic Greek Moussaka. Let's eat!!
Antonio Galloni's Vinous: "Deep, bright-rimmed ruby. Highly perfumed red fruit, potpourri, pipe tobacco, vanilla and coconut aromas, along with hints of star anise, cola and woodsmoke. Offers intense redcurrant, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors that deepen steadily with air while maintaining vivacity. Finishes very long, smooth and appealingly sweet, showing excellent definition, sneaky tannins and a late jolt of smoky minerality. Drink 2021-2030." Feb 2019
Tim Atkin: Not everyone made a Gran Reserva in 2013, the latest vintage in the last 100 years, but this one was bolstered by grapes from Imperial, which wasn't produced. As a result, this blend of Tempranillo with 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo is balanced, serious and complex with impressive concentration. Drink 2019-2025."
James Suckling: "Aromas of plum and meat with a wet earth and hints of cedar. Medium body, very fine tannins. Juicy and delicious now. Not a big wine but ready and savory. Drink now." Aug 2018
Winery: "Ruby red in colour, the wine shows a youthful hint at the rim. The nose reveals interesting and complex aromas of ripe fruits in perfect balance with spices, toffee, roasted coffee and balsamic notes. The palate is soft, with silky tannins, good, fresh acidity and a long finish with a balsamic aftertaste. In terms of matching, this wine is a perfect companion for any dish of the Mediterranean diet. Recommended serving temperature is 64 degrees Fahrenheit."

Why This Gift
Robert Parker, Jr's Wine Advocate: "A new cuvée from Laurent-Perrier, the inaugural NV Blanc de Blancs Nature represents the first time this house, for all its emphasis on Chardonnay, has ever released a blanc de blancs. Offering up aromas of citrus fruit, green apple, oyster shell and warm bread, the wine is medium to full-bodied, lively and precise, with a bright spine of ripe acidity and a delicately chalky finish. It's a blend of the 2012 and 2013 vintages with reserve wine from 2009, and chef de cave Michel Fauconnet told me that he had sought precision from the Chardonnay of the Montagne de Reims and texture from that of the Côte de Blancs." Apr 2019
Winery: "Laurent-Perrier has always selected Chardonnay as the dominant grape variety in all its white cuvées and has been a pioneer of the Brut Nature category since 1981. The wine has a white gold color with a fine sparkle. The nose displays minerality and hints of citrus. On the palate, the wine is balanced and sustained with a finish that is fresh with notes of lemon.
The Blanc de Blancs is a true wine for gastronomy pairing well with the finest fish: sea bass with salt crust, scallops, grilled marinated squid with lemon, thyme, olive oil as well white meats such as veal tartare with ginger and lemon."

Why This Gift
Brewery: "Shizuku” means “drops,” because the sake is not pressed, but rather allowed to drip out of cloth bags filled with the finished brew. Shizuku Daiginjos are light and ethereal. This is a Junmai Daiginjo but maintains the Shichi Hon Yari style which is earthy and rustic. The pressed version of this sake was in the top group of Robert Parker’s recent tasting of 800 sakes.
Tasting Note: Ethereal and delicate in keeping with the shizuku (free run) method, but showing Shichi Hon Yari's style with toasty notes of brown butter.

Why This Gift
The Pio Cesare winery has been crafting wine for 5 generations and more than 135 years. We can safely say that they have honed their expertise to a t; the 2016 Pio Cesare Barolo is ready proof of that fact. It needs a little more time to get to it's drinking readiness, so we have some pairing choices for you to ponder during that time. Our favorite is braciola alla griglia - butterflied, pounded beef sirloin wrapped around a stuffing of toasted bread crumbs and pignoli, parmesan, golden raisins, parsley, oregano, mint and garlic, grilled to perfection. If you don't swoon with delight when you eat a thick slice of this dish, we'll eat our hats. Roast duck with a hazelnut garlic sauce is another delicious option, as is a tajarin pasta with butter and a generous shaving of truffles. Refill your glasses at the end to go with a potent Castelmagno cheese; the meal is sure to be one you won't forget quickly.
Wine Enthusiast: Pio Cesare is on a roll producing vintage after vintage of excellent Barolo. This shows enormous intensity and beauty with perfumed layers of pressed flower, wild berry, vanilla and spice. It boasts a dark, bold appearance and tight tannins that are supported by an excellent quality of fruit. Drink after 2018." Sep 2021James Suckling: "Aromas of spicy red cherries on a loamy underlay, together with savory twists of forest floor and walnut shell. Some orange rind, too. Full-bodied with very fine, firm and silky tannins and lots of long, focused fruit and spice flavor. Good structure for 2018. Needs a year or two to fully knit together. Best from 2024." Feb 2022

Their common dedication to excellence set the grounds for the creation of the first Franco-Japanese sake meeting the highest standards of balance, purity and refinement.

Why This Gift
Winery: "Moët Nectar Impérial is a delicious expression of the Moët & Chandon style, a style distinguished by its bright fruitiness, its seductive palate and its elegant maturity. The assemblage reflects the diversity and complementarity of the three grape varietals: the structure of Pinot Noir (40 to 50%), the fleshiness Pinot Meunier (30 to 40%), and the freshness of Chardonnay (10 to 20%) of which 20 to 30% from specially selected reserve wines to enhance its intensity, richness and constancy.
An intense color: bold yellow with golden highlights. A rich bouquet: a burst of exotic fruits (pineapple, mango) the roundness of stone fruits (mirabelle plum, apricot) a slight hint of vanilla. A voluptuous palate combining creaminess and vibrancy: the captivating density of exotic fruits (pineapple, mango) the silky firmness of stone fruits (mirabelle plum, apricot) the brisk freshness of grapefruit notes.
Moet Nectar Imperial pairs particularly wells with rich foods and spicy flavors:
- Foie gras with freshly-milled black pepper
- Salmon in sweet and sour sauce
- Blue-veined cheeses (Roquefort, fourme, gorgonzola), with fruits
- Yellow-fleshed exotic fruits (grilled pineapple, mango sorbet flavored with ginger and pepper)."

Why This Gift
Heitz's Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is made for your summer grilling dreams. Your favorite steak? Check. Lamb sliders with pesto mayo? Check. Leg of lamb done low and slow for Sunday dinner? Check. And if you're feeling lazy, just pour a generous glass, skip the grilling, and enjoy it with some aged cheddar chunks. Wine Enthusiast says it "vastly overdelivers on its price point" and we couldn't agree more. Don't miss out winelovers.
Winery: "The Palate expresses beautiful aromas of blackberry contrasted perfectly with spiced notes of nutmeg. There is a luscious weight and texture to the wine, but also a racy edge of well-balanced acidity on the palate. A powerful, yet elegant wine with wonderful aging potential. A true expression of the Heitz winemaking philosophy.

Why This Gift
Vinum is the first machine-made glass to based on the characteristics of grape varietal. The brand was developed in tasting workshops where the content commanded the shape. Vinum is executed in lead crystal, machine blown in Bavaria, Germany. Robert M. Parker, Jr.: "The finest glasses for both technical and hedonistic purposes are those made by Riedel. The effect of these glasses on fine wine is profound. I cannot emphasize enough what a difference they make." Time Magazine: "The Riedel family has never stamped its name on a single bottle of wine. But over the past 50 years, this Austrian clan of master glassmakers has done more to enhance the oenophile's pleasure than almost any winemaking dynasty." Riedel: "The magic of this glass is its ability to highlight the full spectrum of aromas and flavors offered by fine champagnes and sparkling wines while preserving their elegant effervescence. Bubbles pose a challenge. How do you keep the sparkle in sparkling wine? The solution lies at the bottom of each Vinum Prestige Cuvee Flute. Etched into each is a small dot, the purpose of which is to provide a slightly abraded surface that serves to generate a continuous stream of bubbles and prevent the champagne from going flat in the glass. Designed to highlight the bouquet of champagne, this light and well-balanced glass accentuates the complexity and richness of vintage champagnes and prestige cuvees." And yet it is also completely devoid of flabbiness as the "malls" are carried out on pinot grapes harvested on the crunchy side of ripeness." Smoked salmon canapés. Lump crab cakes. Bone in pork shoulder braised in Champagne vinegar with cumin, coriander and mustard seed. Strawberry tarts.
Why This Gift
Smoked salmon canapés. Lump crab cakes. Bone in pork shoulder braised in Champagne vinegar with cumin, coriander and mustard seed. Strawberry tarts. What could possibly be the perfect pairing for each of these dishes? L'Ermitage Brut Rose 2009. It's crisp and delicious and will definitely do you.
Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "The 2009 L'Ermitage Brut Rosé, disgorged in February of 2017 and made with about 10 grams per liter dosage, has a pale salmon-pink color and aromas just beginning to segue from red berry and peachy fruit to notes of caramel, mushroom and pastry. The medium-bodied palate slowly opens to bright citrus flavors with energetic mousse and a long, bright, juicy finish. It's drinking well now but should continue to age well in bottle. Drink date 2020-2027." Sept 2020 Winery: "Roederer Estate wines are made with juice from just the cuvée, i.e. the first pressing of the grapes; no première or deuxième taille is used. The concept of the vintage L’Ermitage is the same one that is used in Champagne: Only the best of the vintage is selected. These are exceptional wines that create a noble (special) blend, which allows for longer aging and produces a fine wine with elegance and finesse. Four members of the blending team include winemakers from Champagne Louis Roederer and Roederer Estate, together totaling over 130 years of experience with Roederer. The rosé blend is crafted using a small fraction of red wine, from Pinot Noir grown on the Estate, especially made for this purpose using Burgundian maceration technique that allows skin contact to extract color and aromas. This red wine brings delicate berry flavors and a nice color to further extend the L’Ermitage smoothness and subtleties - allowing for a unique tasting experience.
Very delicate salmon colors are the trademark of the L’Ermitage Rosé. The aromatics are of peach pie and clove spices. Mouthfeel is full of energy with bright acid and cranberry notes, a mid-palate width brought by the pinot noir and the creaminess from the 7 years of aging on the yeasts. The finish is long and delicate with layers of fruit and spices."

Riedel: "Perfect for young, full-bodied (more than 12 percent alcohol), complex red wines that are high in tannin. This glass smoothes out the rough edges, emphasizing the fruit, allowing wines to achieve a balance that would normally take years of ageing to acquire. The generous size of this glass allows the bouquet to develop fully. The shape directs the flow of wine onto the zone of the tongue which perceives sweetness, thus accentuating the fruit and de-emphasizing the bitter qualities of the tannin." Why This Gift
The Shafer TD-9 Napa Valley Red Blend is a Wired For Wine staff favorite, and frequent fixture on our table at home. It's one of those wines that we don't think has gotten it's fair shake in the ratings department, but that doesn't matter to us; this wine drinks like a pricey Napa Cab, only more approachable and versatile. It is a dark, dense, delicious Napa blend that we can't get enough of. Steaks on the grill, duck confit over a bed of warm lentils tossed with dijon vinagrette, traditional fettucine bolognaise, spaghetti and meatballs and pan-seared rib lamb chops with curry-roasted vegetables are just some of the things we've had it with, and we're going to make that list a lot longer. This is good stuff.
Wine Spectator: "Rich and full of dense and spicy dark plum, dried blackberry and mocha flavors. Dark chocolate and smoky notes show on the ripe finish, with dried savory herbal accents. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Drink now through 2023." Feb 2020
Winery: "This juicy red blend is loaded with vivid summer fruit – red plum, red cherry, black cherry, and strawberry – along with rhubarb, spice, and red licorice. All this tantalizing freshness comes with energy and ripe tannins for a long, luscious finish.” ~ Shafer winemaker Elias Fernandez

Why This Gift
Wine Spectator: "This crowd-pleaser offers a lovely, lacy mousse and appealingly juicy flavors of baked peach, raspberry coulis, toasted brioche and kumquat. Fresh and well-knit, with a lingering finish. Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2023. 5,000 cases imported." Nov 2020
Winery: "Its dazzling appearance brings to mind a shiny ruby. Its deep scarlet color - almost poppy red - symbolizing the perfect balance between strength and elegance, comes from the red wines of Les Riceys in the Aube department. In keeping with its color, aromas of dark berry fruits pervade the senses. Imagine blackberry, blackcurrant and strawberry all scattered on a golden platter edged with mandarin orange and finished with exquisite traces of saffron.
Chardonnays from the Montagne de Reims come together with Pinot Noirs of Les Riceys in the Côte des Bar, the most southerly Champagne vineyard. The result is a deeply intense performance that engrosses you from the first sip. With an incisive attack, juicy berry fruits in the middle-palate, spiced and smoked notes in its stunning finale, this champagne is a mischievous delight. Ideal to be served with duck à l’orange and other red meat dishes."

Why This Gift
Louis Roederer Collection 242 Brut Champagne is the 242nd blend since its foundation in 1766 (named Roederer in 1833 - born in 1776). The seventh generation of the Roederer family is responsible for this masterful blend* which boasts delicious fruit, floral and delicate citrus notes, beautifully balanced by the perfect amount of acidity and striking concentration, all coming together in a fresh, new take on one of our favorite, centuries-old beverages. For a decadent breakfast, sip it with warm brioche accompanied by salt-flecked butter and an apricot jam. How could you not have a good day after that??
James Suckling: "Aromas of cooked apple, bread dough and lemon tart follow through to a full body with round, delicious fruit and a rich, flavorful finish. Yet, it remains tight and fine with lovely, compressed bubbles. New energy and freshness. Medium-to full-bodied with layers of fruit and vivid intensity. 42% chardonnay, 36% pinot noir and 22% pinot meuniere. 8 grams dosage. Four years on the less. A new-format non-vintage that designates the year of the 242nd harvest, 2017, plus reserve wine of 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. Drink or hold.” Jul 2021
Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "This debut release is very impressive indeed, wafting from the glass with notes of pear, peach, ripe citrus fruit, toasted almonds, fresh pastry and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, pillowy and textural, it's concentrated and layered, with lively acids, an enlivening pinpoint mousse and a long, sapid finish. Brut Premier was already a very persuasive wine, but the new Brut Collection nevertheless represents a step up. Drink 2021-2035.” Sep 2021
Winery: "The Collection 242 blend is dominated by Chardonnay which was of exceptional quality in the 2017 vintage. The perfectly ripe Chardonnay grapes lend the wine its aromas of ripe, sweet fruit complemented by subtle oaky notes. The palate is rich and ripe with a luxurious texture that coats the palate, the signature of an outstanding Chardonnay. The Pinot noir and Meunier grapes from the Vallée de la Marne complete the wine’s broad, luscious, smooth and juicy character. The finish is energetic and fresh.
Collection 242 represents the Champagne House's 242nd blend since its foundation. It is based on the finest wines from the 2017 harvest and complemented by 34% of the Perpetual Reserve (2012-2016) and 12% of oak- aged reserve wines sourced from young Cristal vines (2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016)."
*The Collection: "Roederer's Brut Premier was created in the 1980s to prove to consumers that we could deliver consistent quality with a blend that compensated for less than perfectly ripe vintages," explains Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon. "We were blending in pursuit of maturity, of ripeness. The concept behind the Brut Collection is the opposite: we're looking for freshness—and we are embracing singularity, something we're emphasizing by enumerating each year's blend." This project has been in the making since 2012, when Lecaillon set aside 21,000 liters of wine to constitute a perpetual reserve aged in large tanks without malolactic fermentation. Sourcing has evolved too: less must is coming from cooperatives, and only vineyards cultivated without the use of herbicides inform the blend. A dedicated team oversees all this, visiting every grower three times per year. And vinification is parcel by parcel to deliver a maximum of blending components. Iteration 242 is based on the 2017 vintage (56%), supplemented by 34% reserve wines from the perpetual reserve established in 2012 and 10% foudre-aged reserve wines.

Why This Gift
A little brother to Stags Leap fame, this shockingly delicious Shafer Vineyards Red Shoulder Ranch Napa Valley Chardonnay is not one you'll want to miss.
Because the oak is so wonderfully subtle, the gorgeously pure fruit cannot help but shine. From lemon to pineapple, with heavenly touches of melon, green
mango and apricot, they join forces with floral notes, a hint of seductive minerality and lively acidity to weave a truly memorable, full-bodied Chardonnay.
Climb aboard winelovers, it's going to be a delectable ride. This Shafer Chardonnay will pair beautifully with chicken, anything from the sea, fish, and
vegetables. Open your first bottle and wow the crowd right out of the gate by serving a heaped platter of Alaskan King Crab legs. The bright acidity of
this Red Shoulder Ranch will be perfect opposite the melted butter and garlic aioli for dipping... Moving on, if you'd like to serve a pasta course, we
love the floral nuances in this California Chardonnay opposite the briny tang of spaghetti tossed with cauliflower, green olives and toasted almonds. Be
sure to have a good quality Parmesan to sprinkle over the top. More fish? No problem. How about grilled wild salmon served with a potato rosti cake, drizzled
with a sweet pea-wasabi sauce (easy on the fire factor)? In the mood for simple? A crisp-skinned rotisserie chicken dressed with a lemon-brown butter emulsion
with some glazed baby carrots on the side will be like finding this Shafer's long-lost best friend... Take a short break, and then come back to another
chilled glass with a room temperature brie cheese, preferably one on the milder, more buttery side. And they all lived happily ever after...
Winery: “Year after year the Chardonnay from our beautiful Carneros vineyard offers plush, exotic, zesty aromas and flavors. “The
2017 offers lush, luxurious aromas and flavors of melon, honeysuckle, apricot, pineapple and flint all held together with effortless structure, elegant

Why This Gift
Stephen Pannell is one of Australia’s finest and most imaginative winemakers. He's won more awards than we have room to list here, amongst them International Red Winemaker of the Year and Decanter Magazine’s 50 Most Influential Contributors to the World of Wine. His S.C. Pannell Koomilya JC Block Shiraz is proof of that skill and acumen. It's a single block Shiraz from 80 year old vines. Set this one on your top shelf while you peruse your meat stew and oxtail recipes. Cheers mates!
James Suckling: Designated Top 100 Wine of 2018, #26 Rank. "A slightly firmer and more fragrant style to the ultra-rich DC Block bottling of the same vintage. This has impressive depth and concentration. Aromas are in the spectrum of dark, red and purple berries. There is an astutely handled, spicy oak influence courtesy of the 2700-liter French oak vats. The palate carries on with a wealth of fine, long and sleek tannins, which deliver a fresh plum-stone finish. Try from 2023." Dec 2018
Winery: "An assault of many aromas and flavours that sweep together in one fluid motion, bound in the Koomilya signature of split red wood and mahogany. Palate: deep spice and cassis flavours that surprise and delight. Tannin: silky tannins play across the back palate. Pair with: beef cheeks or oxtail. Cellar: as long as you can!"

Why This Gift
Chef Michel Rostang has us all fired up to open a bottle of Billecart-Salmon Reserve Brut Champagne. It's sublime, refined and elegant, and with a very gentle price for this caliber of bubbly. Cheers winelovers!
Wine Spectator: "A well-knit Champagne with a citrusy, orange peel overtone and a lithe backbone of acidity enlivening flavors of cherry and apricot fruit, grated ginger, pastry and minerally saline. Creamy finish. Drink now through 2023. " Dec 2020
Winery: "Appearance: With reflections of straw yellow, this cuvée is recognisable by the finesse of its slowly rising bubbles and its persistent and plentiful mousse. Overall it portrays a luminous radiance of sparkling youthfulness. Aroma: A distinct and precise intensity with an ethereal character, followed by a natural and radiant freshness. With the presence of a perfect primary example (floral and fresh fruits), highlighted by a volatility of very pure and lightly biscuit aromas. Palate: A subtle pleasure with a delicate texture under the charm of white flesh fruit flavours (apples, crunchy pears). With a beautiful fluidity of a delicious lightness uniting gourmand flavours of springtime. Tasting: The ideal partner for every occasion. It is perfect as an aperitif and can be enjoyed with a wide variety of dishes. Serve at 46-48 degrees F."
Chef's Notes: "The Brut Réserve is a cuvée which is both delicate whist at the same time exhibiting a great finesse. Ideal as an aperitif or paired with a dish that is light and refined and doesn’t overpower the wine. I’m thinking of a dish that we serve on our menu at the restaurant: crab spiced with ginger and a creamy courgette sauce which is topped with Daurenki caviar. The pairing is subtle and the dish perfectly accompanies this ethereal cuvée which exhibits a great finesse." ~ Chef Michel Rostang, of Maison Rostang, 2 MIchelin Star restaurant in Paris

Why This Gift
A powerful statement of pure beauty with great depth. This sparkling rosé is made in an Extra Brut style, with a seamless, harmonious elegance that goes on and on.
The color is a brilliantly shiny salmon rose. The mouth-feel is beautiful, filled with a deliciously fine mousse (tiny bubbles) and wonderful fruit notes of fine ripe pears, some quince, and rose petals. There is also a classic brioche and elegant creamy yeast with fine toasty hints. It has a superb structure with great concentration. Great fruit is well integrated and balanced by vibrant acidity, fine tannins and characteristic minerality with a dry finish. This is a stunning sparkling wine with a long satisfying finish. This sparkling wine will have great longevity and is the ideal partner to food.
Noblesse Oblige pairs well with caviar, oysters and any other fresh shellfish. It refreshes the palate between bites of buttery or creamy dishes, and meets the richness of smoked salmon and robust cheeses. It also pairs remarkably well with meaty main course staples and, of course, makes a lovely toast!

Why This Gift
Wine Spectator: "A well-cut and lacy Champagne in an elegant, aperitif style, with hints of chalk and graphite underscoring the lively Honeycrisp apple, cherry and lemon curd flavors. Offers a sleek, minerally finish. Drink now through 2021." Nov 2018Bettane & Desseauve: "A round and fairly deep champagne, with a certain suppleness which gives it an almost universal character.

He's the man behind The Dude from Napa Valley, which we've got for a decidedly un-Napa Valley retail. You should really try it.
Winery: "The Cabernet Sauvignon portion of the blend was selected from vineyards in Calistoga and Rutherford, while the blenders were traced from multiple vineyards sites including, Howell Mountain, Oak Knoll and the Carneros regions of the Napa Valley. It’s amazing that in the vineyard, you can catch the scent of lemon trees and the Pacific Ocean. This is arguably one of the top few appellations to make top-notch Chardonnay." ~ Charlie Wagner, Owner and Winemaker "The dramatic climate of the Highlands – located within Monterey County – allows Mer Soleil to create dramatic wines. Morning fog, bright sunshine, and gusting winds enable longer "hang time" for the grapes, resulting in wines of intense, complex character. If you're like us and you're stepping up the cooking and wine sampling game these days, this Wolffer is a great option with hearty salads, light fish dishes, cheese platters and lots more. We are big, big fans...
Winery: "Bright shiny light copper in color. The glass is filled with ripe pear, fresh papaya and rose petal aromas. The mouth-feel is rich and elegant with great structure and wonderful layers. This Rosé has lovely balance between the fresh fruit, fine tannins, good minerality and graceful acidity. The wine is very savory and has a long finish with creamy yeast and nice classic chalk notes. It is the perfect summer wine.
Food Pairings: Serve chilled, solo or as a complement to almost any food. At cocktail parties, it will shine alongside hors d’oeuvres such as smoked salmon, lobster, shrimp, carpaccio and soft cheeses. It can also complement main-course fish and pork dishes, and at Thanksgiving, it is perfect with turkey."
Summer in a Bottle Background: "This Rose and its distinctive bottle was first introduced in 2013. It was created in homage to summertime in the Hamptons, and this release delivers on that promise. We used nine varieties of grapes, grown in different vineyard sites, and harvested each lot at the perfect time. This diversity gives us complexity. By carefully blending, we achieve a balanced Rose with loads of flavors and fruits complementing the wine's natural, vibrant acidity. This Rose has become a cult wine of sorts and is a visual taste portrait of the Hamptons high summer."

Why This Gift
In 1872 a gentleman by the name of Josep Maria Raventós created the world's first Cava, and a dynasty was born. Later, Josep Raventós Blanc was instrumental in the establishment of Cava as a D.O. but through it all Josep Raventós Blanc was not satisfied. In 1984 Josep Raventós Blanc took the daring step to sell off his portion of their winery empire, keeping only for himself what he knew to be the very best vineyards on the estate. He then set about creating the finest winery that Spain had ever seen, with no expenses spared in terms of modern winemaking innovations. So....who needs Champagne when bubbly can be as good as this? Amen winelovers!! How about bite-sized potato latkes with smoked salmon, caviar and tarragon crème fraîche?? The delicate and alluring fresh white fruit, whisper of rosewater, Morello cherry notes, and clean purity in this beautifully structured Spanish bubbly will match handsomely with everything from fish to shellfish, pork, and even seared tuna and rare lamb. Have at it! Roasted leg of lamb with potatoes and onions is a great menu choice. The French say to roast the lamb until it's the color of the wine, or pink... A classic French bouillabaisse loaded with big chunks of lobster might just cause a stampede for seconds, so make sure there's enough. Prosciutto-wrapped pork loin with roasted apples is fantastic, and made for this Cava Rosé. Open another bottle and serve up a mature French Brie with sea salt and olive oil crackers. For those craving something sweet, make it tart cherry croissant bread pudding with crème anglaise. ¡Venido con nosotros winelovers! Winery: "A tenuous, pale and elegant color pink catches you with sensuality. An intriguing cava that requests a slow aromatic search. The first aroma is clean, pure almost crystalline. Little by little citrus aromas with memories of a touch of fresh white fruit build, and mix with subtle cassís. The nose also gives off a certain creaminess which contributes complexity. The clean and direct sensation on the nose changes radically in the mouth where it becomes a smooth texture, voluminous and fruity with an obliging coolness and fine bubbles. Beginning with a lovely balance, this cava closes with a long-haul finish which stretches on and on to very pleasant memories of fresh fruit. A dynamic and elegant cava which asks to you to be tasted and dares you to discover its power and to enjoy its full, cool texture and sensuality."

Why This Gift
Chuck Wagner. Of Caymus Vineyards. He's definitely a big deal and has the Cabernet-making thing down to an award-winning science. The Bonanza Cabernet Sauvignon is his latest achievement - a blend of several California Cabernet grapes that makes it not only delicious, but one which won't leave a scar on your wallet. Cheers to that! Winery: "Medium ruby- red, this wine opens with scents of currants and dried roses, grape pomace and fresh tilled soil. The nose is nuanced with toasty oak imparting a subtle smoked meat character. Flavors of blueberries and blackberries mix with the warmth of vanilla and toasted bread. Silky tannins and striking smoothness. Mouth- watering, lengthy finish trails off with the taste of unsweetened chocolate and cassis." Bonanza: "Bonanza is a multi-vintage California Cabernet. For some time now I have imagined making a new wine from a broader stretch of California, places my kids and I never tire of exploring, intrigued by the quality of the fruit they can produce. Heading down the road of the unknown remains extremely interesting, if not great fun. There are nooks and crannies of our great state that can also produce delicious Cabernet – and merit greater attention and exploration. These are the kinds of places we seek out in producing Bonanza. Different from Napa Valley of course, but good land capable of producing Cabernet that’s less expensive yet a wine of its own riches. Casting aside the boundaries of individual appellations or vintages, we have greater freedom to make good wine. One thing that’s very important to me – Bonanza calls back to a previous era when a glass of good wine with dinner was a simple pleasure. Bonanza aims to be a smart and gratifying choice, speaking to the enjoyment of everyday life. You may agree that our biggest fortune is good company, great food and delicious wine." ~ Chuck Wagner, Winemaker

Why This Gift
Situated in the ancient village of Correns, the heart of Provence, Miraval is the magnificent château owned by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Surrounded by exclusive valley locations and exceptional terroir, this rosé is the result of a collaboration between the Jolie Pitts and la famille Perrin.
A complex, flavoursome blend of cinsault, grenache, syrah and rolle, it's bursting with notes of raspberry, wild strawberries, citrus with an expertly crafted balance of perky acidity and subtle minerality that makes it super food friendly. Enjoy your first glass with an aged French chèvre cheese and toasted baguette slices. Lump crab cakes with a peach salsa would be a fine next step. Chop up a smudge of mint for that salsa to make it extra interesting. Hankering for some southern fare? How about shrimp po boys? Make sure there are plenty of chopped cornichons in the remoulade sauce. Or, the wonderful acidity in this Miraval is perfect for buttermilk fried chicken. Have some potato salad on the side with fresh corn. After that, another glass and maybe a warm summer peach cobbler with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream... Sounds good to us. Wine Enthusiast: "There is an attractive richness to this wine produced by the Perrin family of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wine is full of ripe red berries mingling with spice and citrus. With a fresh, crisp and textured aftertaste, it is ready to drink. Editors' Choice."
Winery: "Pretty pale color, petal pink, elegant with shiny reflections. This wine presents a very beautiful and intense aromatic expression of fresh fruit and spring flowers. In the mouth, the acidity is refreshing; a great elegance and a nice balance dominate, with a saline finish."

Why This Gift
James Suckling: "This has a fresh, lemon and lime nose with a herbal edge, too. The palate has some attractive peaches and lemons, as well as a smooth, fresh, gently herb-tinged finish. Drink now." Mar 2020 Winery: "Cape Mentelle takes a non-interventionist approach towards this classic Margaret River blend of sauvignon blanc and semillon, with the aim to preserve as much fruit intensity and regional character as possible. The style accentuates the fresh fruit characters of both varieties with the added complexity and palate weight offered through a small component of barrel fermentation. The nose is a perfect painting of our Margaret River surroundings- a patch of ancient earth surrounded by vast oceans where fresh, crisp saline scents of the sauvignon blanc meld with the earthy unctuosity of the semillon. The nose is intense with nuances of yellow peach, rockmelon, passionfruit, lemon zest and juniper berry aromas, topped by a hint of white pepper corn. The first approach is very fresh with excellent vibrancy and tension, developing into citrus and melon characters. The wine is then textural and unctuous, ending with a long, zesty finish accompanied by a line of minerality that brings us back to the ocean cliffs and Margaret River mouth."

Why This Gift
From Wine Enthusiast's 2011 European Wine Star Awards Winery of the Year, we've got the Gerard Bertrand Cotes des Roses Rose. The bottom of the bottle was designed by a young French designer, and looks like a rose in full bloom. This Rose isn't just functional, it's beautiful too. Think hostess gift... We had a littel Rose-off in the office, and this bottle won hands down. We then had it with gingery salmon burgers for dinner and liked it even more! Fill your glasses and enjoy them with toasted rounds of baguette slathered with either black olive tapenade or anchovy butter. Prosciutto and melon is another terrific starter that will bring out the lovely fruit and floral notes of the wine. Salads, chicken, fish, and seafood, both raw and cooked, and a lot more will pair easily with the fresh nature, red fruit, citrus and beautiful balance of this Cotes des Roses. Try grilling chicken and serving it with a garlic/basil aioli on the side. If there's good lobster to be had, serve up some lobster BLT's on toasted brioche buns and watch them disappear. A red curry of shrimp will also work well, ladeled over light, fluffy jasmine rice. All that will be left is to stick a fork in you, winelovers, because you'll be done!
Winery: "A soft, pale, brilliant pink with bluish tints developing over time towards more orangey nuances. The bouquet releases aromas of summer fruits, cassis and redcurrant. Floral notes of rose along with hints of grapefruit complete the picture. The finish is fresh, offering notes of candy. On the palate the impression is fresh and full, with great aromatic persistence and balance. Cote des Roses celebrates the Mediterranean lifestyle. The Languedoc appellation stretches along the Mediterranean coast from the Spanish border as far as the city of Nimes, along the foothills of the Montagne Noire and the Ceevennes. The soils are highly varied, mainly with hard limestone and schist, but also gravel transported by the rivers of the Languedoc region. The warm, windy climate (“semi-arid Mediterranean climate with mild winters”) helps the grapes to ripen in good, healthy condition, while retaining all their fresher qualities thanks to the altitude and the influence of the sea which eases the scorching summer heat. The bottle is original with its base in the shape of a rose, created by a young designer from the Ecole Boulle. A wine to be given in the same way you would offer a bunch of roses!"

Why This Gift
Talk about a phenomenal value winelovers; we say run, don't walk! They've crafted a gorgeous, well-rounded red with structure, full body and mothwateringly ripe fruit. Pour your first glass and maybe go Italian for round one: we love this sip-inspiring Chianti with mixed antipasti like fried eggplant, fresh fava beans with pancetta, roasted peppers and Prosciutto. Be careful; you might not make it to the entree... If you're able to pace yourselves, this will pair beautifully with lots of cheeses, red meats and tomato-based sauces. We love it with baked rigatoni with eggplant, peas and ground veal. On the woodsy, earthy side, it is fantastic with papardelle sauced with tomatoes, white wine, carrots and wild duck. An oven-roasted leg of lamb with potatoes will delight as well. As a final note, pour another glorious glass of this stunning ruby red and enjoy it with a subtly nutty, salty Italian Grana Padano cheese.
Winery: Castelsina represents a wine culture that is innovative and at the same time respectful of the tradition of the Tuscan land. The vineyards cover a total area of more than 400 hectares in the provinces of Siena, Florence and a part of Grosseto.
Thanks to the large surface of the territory and to the various climatic conditions, Castelsina has different kind of grapes. The cultivated varieties are mainly those typical of Tuscany as Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Malvasia, Vermentino and Trebbiano, with a presence of international grapes as Merlot, Cabernet and Chardonnay.Partners of Castelsina, where Cantina Senesi Aretini is the leader, select with maximum care and devotion the grapes and introduce in the market products with very good balance quality/price.

Who doesn't love Champagne? It makes everything just that much more festive and fun, we think. And what's better than having a glass of Champagne? Individual mini bottles for everybody. That's where this Moet Mini Brut Champagne 187ml comes in. Tell the truth; you prefer drinking it out of the bottle, don't you? Moet Imperial can be served throughout the meal, from aperitif to dessert and pairs perfectly with sushi, scallops, oysters, white fish, white meats (such as roasted free range chicken au jus with fines herbes), and white fruits (such as a white peach tart served with a light, white chocolate cream)."

Why This Gift
How many people do you know who could some of this??
Winery: “Pale Pink in color from delicately pressed grapes. Beautiful aromas of red cherries, wild strawberries and a hint of peach. Bright and crisp flavors of ripe pomegranate and a touch of raspberry. There is nothing else to say, other than: This is just a Good Fucking Rose!”
The Story: “Our Story: (or, how some serious wine players created a Good Fucking California Wine with a whole lot of New York attitude)
Way back in 2019, we decided to come up with a wine that was long on taste, but short on bullshit. None of that "I'm detecting notes of leather in the finish" kind of talk, just really, really good wine, made with some of the best grapes from some of the most established vineyards in Lodi, California's wine-growing region.
Working with top wine makers, we blended and blended until we were blown away with the results: a Good Fucking approachable wine at a Good Fucking affordable price. Right then and there we chose our name and promised ourselves that whatever wines we produce will have to blow you away and impress the shit out of you in order to carry our brand name — because it's not just any old wine, it's Good Fucking Wine.
And, before you start thinking we're just some Johnny-come-lately hopping on the wine train, our team is comprised of real industry players, who know how to grow grapes, buy fruit, make wine, and sell wine. We know the jargon, we know the system, and we know what needs to be delivered to wine enthusiasts, lovers, geeks, and nerds that will make them come back for more.”

Why This Gift
Our new favorite wine companion obsession is the Wine Chips line of wine pairing potato chips. They are delicious and perfect to go with your cheese board, charcuterie board, appetizers or have on their own with the right wine. The Smoked Gouda Wine Chips pair seamlessly with every Cabernet Sauvignon we've put them next to. But don't stop there; the Smoked Gouda chips are great with Pinot Grigio and bubbly too! They're a great gift item too. Our advice: use them to spice up your summer.
About the Smoked Gouda chip: "Smoked Gouda’s sweet saltiness mates well with Cabs, Pinot Grigio or a festive sparkling wine!"
Chip Makers: "Made with love, while drinking wine. We made Wine Chips because we love wine and we love cheese (who doesn’t?) but realized that putting the cheese IN the wine was a bad idea for both.
So one evening in 2017, over a glass of wine (ok maybe two), we wished for something simple, portable, dip-able, endlessly snack-able, cheese-ladened and delicious.
And just like that (ok, it took a lot of work, a lot of samples, a lot of wine and the dedication of more than a few passionate oenophiles, exuberant chip connoisseurs and mildly lazy party guests) the wine chip was born. Wine Lover Tested, Sommelier Approved. The Boldest, Cheesiest Potato Chip You'll Ever Have.
We're dedicated to crafting the tastiest potato chips infused with natural cheese flavors for people who like their wine. Wine Chips are the boldest, cheesiest, easiest and most satisfying snack you'll ever have.
