Quirky local wine shop delivering high-quality selection of California wines.
They'll ship practically anywhere and are quite knowledgeable about local shipping and taxation laws.
If they provided information about previous selections, and maybe tasting notes, we'd be pretty happy.
There is so much California wine out there that you could never learn them all, taste them all, or buy them all. Wine stores like the WineGlobe provide California wine clubs to help you get access to the best California wines.
The WineGlobe's brick-and-mortar store is located in the San Francisco Bay Area (on the peninsula) and this is a particularly fine-wine centric community. Proximity to Napa and oodles of Silicon Valley dough have made Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Atherton the epicenter of California wine consumption. The WineGlobe is accustomed to picky customers who expect only the finest. This means when it comes to California wines, they know what they're doing and they choose carefully.
Yay for you!
Something we really love about the WineGlobe California Wine Club is that they're looking for "varietal correctness" among all the other criteria they use to choose their wines. To us, this is so important for the average consumer because it helps you understand what makes a Sonoma Cabernet different than a Sonoma Zinfandel, and gives you the tools to judge whether a wine is of excellent quality and to what extent it has been messed with by the winemaker. Remember though, terroir affects the way a wine tastes, too, and that's not covered by varietal correctness.
